If you’re reading this, we already know you’re struggling. Maybe you’re having trouble “adulting”. You’re feeling like everyone else seems to have it all together, why can’t you? Your mental health is getting worse and worse, and you just want it to stop. Your day to day life is chaos and worry and you remember better days when things just weren't like this. You might feel like you’re out of control of your life.

‍‍I really am a child at heart. This is why I love creating connections with children and teens. I see individuals as part of a larger system, via family, community and culture. I believe that the therapeutic alliance I make with my clients is really the heart of therapy and I have seen positive outcomes for my clients when they live confident, happy and healthy lives. In addition to my work with children and teens, much of my practice concentrates on counseling women who have recently separated from their partners, empowering women of all ages to be the best version of themselves. I strive to be the kindest human I can be.

I have a niche' practice offering three different services. 1.) Counseling for people in the helping professions (counselors, social workers, nurses, etc.) 2.) Mentoring for counselors wishing to develop and improve their unique use of self with client's. 3.) Coaching for people working through changes in their personal and professional lives; perhaps not needing therapy, but still wanting to cope better with change.

Which type of clients typically choose to contact me? Those feeling isolated in today's technological society. Couples seeking support managing their relationship. Those considering a change in their career, lifestyle or geography. People curious about the impact of their level of substance use. Creatives curious how to make meaning and the most out of their talents. People bothered by social connections or difficult people in their lives. Parents negotiating how to remain loving while setting boundaries. Those seeking a deeper spiritual connection.

Everyone deserves support and guidance amidst the unique challenges and transitions of life. My counseling practice offers two distinct specialties: one is a focus on adolescent girls and non-binary youth between the ages of 15-19. The other is supporting parents of all aged youth with ADHD to feel empowered with clear information about their child's neurodivergence. I am passionate about both of these unique experiences and seek to provide the opportunity to reflect, learn, and problem solve with an experienced therapist.

In my work as a counselor, I assist clients in healing and growth by fostering openness and self-empowerment. I help my clients understand their experiences by taking their past into account, as well as their current environment. Childhood relationships with primary caregivers, past trauma, existential or spiritual concerns, current environmental stressors, and unmet needs are integral to mental health challenges in all of us. By achieving insight and affirmation about our place in the world and relationship to it, we can reclaim vitality and a sense of purpose in living, using that as a guiding light in the life journey to come.

As a therapist, I take your therapy needs seriously. I use a variety of interventions to develop a full sense of self and comfort within yourself. Being culturally diverse and allowing my clients to heal from their own realms, whether spiritually or culturally, is at the heart of who I am.

"Experiencing moments of emotional distress due to life challenges is a common human experience. At times, however, life’s hardships can overwhelm our minds and bodies, leaving us feeling overly stressed, unwell, depressed, out of balance, and/or empty. Whether the source of the distress was a specific event, trauma or loss, a relationship dynamic, or in response to a life transition, I believe we all have the capacity for healing and personal growth, as well as the potential to create a more meaningful life.

I work primarily, but not exclusively with clients of color in Oregon. My approach is developed from an emotion focused and family systems style, while being centered with the understanding that it can be really difficult for many of us to explore big emotions as well as family histories in how they may still impact us today. Although most of the clients I work with are seeking individual therapy, I do work with couples. I currently work with clients online for virtual therapy sessions.

I am full at this time and not able to accecpt new clients. My clients struggle just like you. Despite being smart, kind and empathetic achievers they still feel worried and disconnected. And they are ready to get to the root of it! When they first come to therapy they feel stressed and frustrated by their unrealized hopes. Knowing full well life will never be perfect, but they want it be eaiser than this! Things have happened in their life that have been hard. So hard that it has led them to worry when the other shoe is going to drop.

Please note that I am cash pay only for clients in New York State. I approach therapy using psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and feminist lenses. I believe that therapy is most effective and meaningful when done collaboratively and hope to work together to understand how your past relationships and experiences shape who you are today. FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Portland?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
