To that end I have found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (pronounced "act") to be extremely effective. My primary approach, ACT does not stigmatize or label individuals with symptoms. Instead, the goal of ACT is to transform how we relate to our difficult thoughts, and embrace our lives in the present.
Unlike traditional forms of therapy, ACT is a mindfulness based therapy. Centered in the present. Less time is devoted to rehashing old hurts and messages of failure. These efforts are viewed as part of the process of being human and our struggle to find happiness and meaning in our lives.
