I have an unusual background for a psychotherapist. Before I started my counseling career, I worked as a TV news reporter, an online media executive, and an adjunct college professor. This diverse experience in journalism, business, and education has given me valuable skills that I use in my counseling practice. My sense of humor is another important part of my counseling style. I take my work with clients seriously, but there are times when therapy needs to include some humor. I also offer life coaching for clients who want to make some changes but don't know where to start.
I generally see clients for an average of 5-10 sessions, and I specialize in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Most of my clients are teenage boys and adult men, although I occasionally work with couples (particularly when the husband/boyfriend would prefer a male therapist). My style just seems to work best with guys.
I work well with clients who are nervous or skeptical about give therapy a try. I also know that psychotherapy can be a big expense, so I run my practice as efficiently as possible.
