I see clients in Florida and Texas. It is my honor to walk alongside people who have committed to the change they want to experience in their lives. I have had the privilege of working with clients for over 15 years. To me, one of the most important aspects of therapy is the FIT between the client and therapist. Our first goal will be to ensure that you feel comfortable with me and that I am inviting you into a trustworthy space for our work. I will be honest - therapy with me will be work, but it will always be done with compassion and care. Life is not easy, but finding a good therapist to walk alongside you should be!

You seem to have it all—a successful career, lasting relationships, and a commitment to making a difference. Yet, internally you're plagued by a sense of emptiness, loneliness, and a longing for true meaning and fulfillment. Many of my clients are dedicated high achievers who pour their hearts and souls into everything they do, yet they feel overworked, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their own needs and desires. They yearn for genuine understanding, connection, and the freedom to be their authentic selves. They seek to shed old narratives and limitations, embracing vulnerability to rediscover purpose and vitality.

Welcome! In my work I hope to share my passion for our connections to the natural world, our bodies, and our community in the healing process. This knowledge that has been shared with me has illuminated my path and expanded my perspective of my training in traditional western psychology. I believe that some of the most fruitful healing happens in relationship & in community and that when given a safe environment, we naturally move towards healing and growth.

As a therapist, I specialize in working with young adults and couples who are navigating sexual health, life transitions, anxiety, family dynamics, and relationships. I take a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Existential approach that also weaves in a focus on client strengths and narratives. I tend to have a more direct approach with my clients, while also adding in humor and a space that allows for support and strength. I am an avid ally of the LGTBQIA+ community and am able to create an environment that empowers and upholds clients as who they are.

I work with adults navigating a variety of experiences, but I primarily focus on anxiety, depression, grief, self-worth, and relationship challenges. I help others identify beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that get in the way of personal, relational, and spiritual growth. I understand that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I pull from a variety of techniques & modalities depending on your specific goals and needs. Whatever it is that brings you to counseling, my priority is to provide a safe and comfortable space for you to show up as you are.

It is important to me to approach therapy and to understand a person, from a well-rounded, holistic point of view. This means that I aim to learn about you as a multi-faceted human, to understand you within the varying contexts you exist in, and within the many different (past and present) relationships in your life. I believe it is imperative to understand the whole person (physical, mental, emotional) so that I have a complete understanding and can tailor treatment to your individual unique needs. I use a client-centered and integrated approach to meet your needs in therapy.

Life can be difficult, and each of us has unique experience and circumstance. Although the past informs the present, it doesn’t have to control the future. The counseling approach I use pulls from a humanistic perspective and believes that we have the inherent power within ourselves to move towards holistic wellbeing.

I practice from a holistic standpoint, believing many factors go into the human experience and should be given their appropriate attention. I believe therapy is a little different for all individuals. I strive to meet individuals where they are and tailor my approach accordingly. I always work to create a safe environment for all people suitable for personal growth, healing, and exploration. I believe clients are the experts of their lives, and my role is to offer support, guidance, education, tools/skills, and the occasional interpretation.

Did you know that being skilled at setting boundaries actually brings your loved ones closer and can significantly improve all your interpersonal relationships? Our problems often stem from behavior that is self-protective. We may have learned ways to avoid emotional pain, disappointment, and grief, but sometimes those protective behaviors become roadblocks to personal growth. Perhaps we have unconsciously decided that living with the problems we already know seems safer than approaching the changes that will help us heal and move forward.

I believe that each person is the expert on themselves and their experiences, and my role is to be a supportive guide throughout the healing process. I always want our work together to be a collaborative process, so we will structure our time together around your goals. This is your space, and you get to decide how it looks. Some clients are looking to stay near the surface, and work on coping skills and solutions to daily life problems. Others want to explore further into their own past or their inner world.

Is your child struggling? Children, teens and their parents face unprecedented challenges in today's rapidly changing world. Anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, attention problems, school stress, difficult relationships, life transitions, chronic illness, grief, mental illness and other experiences compound the inherent challenges of growing up. You and your child may feel discouraged and alone braving these challenges yet experiencing challenges is universal and affirms our connection to each other. How different would life be if we instinctively embraced this truth and reached out for connection to grow through challenges together?

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Austin?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
