Sometimes life’s challenges can leave us feeling lost, hurt, angry, or confused. We all have unique experiences that shape who we are and sometimes we need a little support navigating those experiences and feelings. My style is to partner with you to identify and work through the struggles while building on the strengths that make you uniquely you. I enjoy working with individuals of many different races, religions, genders, and cultures. Counseling sessions with me are collaborative and laid back. My approach to each session is as unique and individualized as each person I serve.

I am passionate about relationships. Maybe it's my Italian genes, or maybe it's my sense of family values. For whatever reason, I care about helping relationships survive and thrive. My training includes Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. What you can expect is a structured approach in which we specify goals and work to build strong emotional alliances. I facilitate your interaction as a couple to lead you into a deeper understanding of each other first, and then move on to problem-solving and practical decision-making.

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." --Maya Angelou. Suffering is often silent. We hold back our sadness, loneliness, resentment & shame. We think that pushing these feelings aside will allow us to live the life we desire. Yet, if you find yourself unable to move forward, I would be honored to sit alongside you as you process your story. Your pain. Your joy. Your sorrow, self-doubt and hatred. It is my goal that through my nonjudgmental ear you feel seen, heard, accepted & cared for. It is in this space that we can overcome the hardships of your past or future, & embrace the light that is within you.

Seeking help for your mental health can be intimidating, which is why it is essential for you and I to find common ground and discover your strengths to create a sense of security. Therapy will be a collaborative process between you and I, where you are the expert of yourself and your relationship. I encourage vulnerability, but only when it feels safe to do so. Together we will bring awareness to how the problem is affecting you so that we can identify creative solutions and take steps toward your goals. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2019 with a Master's of Social Work.

No, this suffering you live with is not all there is for you. You are suffering for reasons that can be identified and resolved in psychotherapy. If you could have figured it out on your own, you would have already, because you have really tried. You do not need "coping strategies" or suggestions or other superficial band aids for your pain, you need to understand what about you is functioning well and what isn't, and to develop the self-awareness, self-knowledge, and emotional competence that will get you out of this pain into the life you want to live.

Therapy is a journey toward wholeness not because a person is broken, rather life is filled with challenges and obstacles that can shape us into our greater selves. It takes courage to want to face your problems and break barriers that hinder your growth. While the path toward healing and answers may be arduous, it can be the process that makes life all the more fulfilling and meaningful. And it starts with but a single choice: take the next step. Your future self proudly awaits you beyond a brighter horizon.

I believe in self-determination (choice) and the natural process of growth. I will, therefore, assist your growth/change process by providing you with education, support and honest feedback. Because I prefer to examine issues from a holistic perspective, I will discuss the integration of your strengths as they relate to the five life domains: emotional, mental, physical, relational and spiritual.

If I were to say if I had a type of client, it would someone that wants help. If there is a need for me to work harder than the person coming for the therapy session, then maybe they just might not yet be ready to address some of the deeper-rooted issues that led them to step out and ask for help. I know I try to remain more attuned and aware that the readiness to change is key to the success of therapy for a client. I want to work in tandem with the person to reach the goals they have set for themselves.

We learn how to see, value and trust ourselves and others based on how our caregivers saw, valued and were honest with us. When that relationship has been broken in any way, we develop an attachment wound. This break could have come in many forms, neglect, abuse, emotional and physical absence or inconsistent nurturing. As adults we act out our wounds in our daily lives. This leads to an inability to form healthy, connected and valuable relationships with ourselves and others. The impact of this is depression, anxiety, personality issues, trauma responses and a myriad of other issues.

My clients are people who have had an emotional injury of some sort. They come with psychological pain seeking relief from the stress, anxiety, and depression it brings. They want the emotional pain to stop. Some common issues are grief, forced change, conflict, spiritual trauma, individuation, transitions, or seeing that you are not the person you want to be and desire to become your best self. These are some of the struggles I have successfully helped others navigate to find a more fulfilling life. We work together. I see you with a holistic lens and I am present. You are welcome to a consultation at no cost for an opinion.

How can I find a therapist in Columbus?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
