I work in pursuit of a greater understanding of a persons life and mind, everything-feelings, beliefs, memories, dreams and even seemingly irrelevant passing thoughts. Emotional healing takes place in a safe space through the empathic work of a committed relationship between psychotherapist and patient that is radically individualized/fully confidential. My approach is with the concern of relieving immediate symptoms and resolving current life problems. Patients are encouraged to talk as freely as possible in an environment that can enhance their awareness into how they see themselves and the world around them with increased sense of freedom and validation.

THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH (Robert Frost)... It is human to suffer and it is human to face challenges. When the suffering becomes too great, and the challenges too large, good therapy can play a key role in bringing about change. If you decide to work with me, I would consider it an honor to become part of your journey towards increased health and well-being. When you come to therapy, you will be treated with respect. I bring many years of experience as a therapist, providing both brief evidence-based interventions and long term psychodynamic approach. I will work carefully with you to define and achieve your personal goals.

If you feel held back by memories of traumatic events, or that your anxiety is keeping you stuck, there is hope. Together we can engage in the process of healing from past hurt and pain to bring you to a sense of peace, wholeness, and wellbeing. In my practice, I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, relationship issues, difficulty dating/finding the right partner, career decisions, navigating life transitions, and self esteem.  I work especially well with individuals who are curious to understand themselves and others, and who naturally think about connections and patterns in their lives.

Trauma is considered a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that can taunt the average person daily. Trauma can affect us while we are sleeping or awake; while we are home or out in the public; during a conversation, or while watching television. Sometimes we don't even realize that some of our life's experiences were traumatic and is affecting our everyday functioning, our relationship with others, and our daily encounter with society. As a result, we begin to experience thoughts and emotions that could exhibit signs of depression and anxiety, and we struggle with how to manage them.

I provide teletherapy to clients in Pennsylvania and California (I am licensed in both states). I work with adults (18-65) who are struggling with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, acute stress, substance use, and challenges with interpersonal relationships, major life transitions, coming out, gender, and queer identity development. I use EMDR therapy and client-centered, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral interventions to support people in healing from traumatic experiences and unresolved grief by helping them reprocess disturbing, burdensome memories so that they become less intrusive, distracting, and painful.

In life, it is not uncommon to find yourself stuck in patterns that no longer serve you but you are unsure of how to change. Perhaps at times you experience difficult emotions that you don't fully understand or know how to address. In my work as a psychotherapist, I provide a safe, collaborative environment in which clients can more freely get to know their emotional and physical states so that they may release distress and discover their more authentic self. I help clients to develop a more compassionate self-awareness and build greater flexibility in how they respond to the pressures and stressors of life.

Today's life struggles are much different than yesterdays. On top of average everyday obstacles of navigating a busy life, raising a family, and making ends meet, were faced with political tensions, health concerns, and morals/values that we've never thought of before. Amongst all these stressors, I relate and empathize with this journey were on together. I enjoy helping today's transition-aged youth (late teen to early adult) learn to slow down in the midst of society's business, learn to enjoy this journey, find meaning in their experiences and find their way through life's difficulties, relationships and career paths.

My ideal client would be someone motivated to do the work on themselves, open to feedback, and doesn't mind being open with me. I do not have a preference; as far as diagnosis, I have a preference for clients who know what they want and are willing to let me help them to get there.

My ideal client struggles with Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Trauma, and/or related conditions. They are motivated for change or at least open to the possibility of change. They are open to feedback and willing to lean into the therapeutic process. They do not need to have clear goals for the therapeutic process right away but are willing to work to identify these goals in the treatment process. They would want to improve their life in some way, or even just their relationship with themselves.

I am a psychotherapist and Jungian psychoanalyst in private practice for over 40 years. I work with adults who are struggling with any of the following issues; difficult life transitions, depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma and or losses. As a Jungian psychoanalyst, my orientation is to view psychological problems as an opportunity to further one's self knowledge, to master obstacles, to grow and to heal wounds. My approach includes dream work as connection to unconscious material is central to Jung’s concept of “individuation”, becoming more authentically yourself. I value deeply the therapeutic relationship.

My goal is to help the client obtain their goals of normal daily functioning. My ideal client is brought into therapy and focused on utilizing the tools given in therapy to apply to daily life. FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Philadelphia?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
