Relationships are my passion! Whether it be your relationship with yourself, your partner, or life itself, I aim to help people more deeply connect with their authentic selves. When we're living out of alignment, we can have a whole host of symptoms, and it's difficult to get clear about what to do next when we can't see things accurately. Trauma is real. Fear is inevitable. Being disconnected from your heart can also be a thing. Any of these factors can lead to hinderances on your path to leading a soulful life. If you're at a crossroads and unsure which way to go, let me help you illuminate your path forward!

Starting therapy can be anxiety provoking. I hope to make it a little easier by providing some light heartedness, education about the process, and a comfortable environment (either via telehealth or in-person in Kansas City). I specialize in working with adults who have experienced trauma. This can mean a single incident that you are having trouble recovering from, or more complex trauma over a long span of time. Additionally, I enjoy helping my clients learn healthier coping mechanisms, have a safe space to explore their thoughts and emotions, and find connection in the midst of challenges and difficulties.

Do you know how to take care of everyone else, but can't seem to figure out your own shit? Maybe you feel guilty for wanting more. Don't you already have the job, the partner, maybe kids? Even still, the edges are starting to fray and you don't feel connected to yourself and others in the ways you want. The self-help books, podcasts, and the mindfulness apps kind of helped, but there is still something missing. Maybe you've tried therapy before, but it didn't go deep enough. That might have left you with a feeling that maybe you were right, and you are just too much.

I believe that most people at some time can benefit from talking with a professional about emotional problems that they are encountering, although many persons I see worry that there is something "wrong" with them and feel they should be able to improve their situations thembselves. Difficulties in relationships, problems concerning work or recovering from bad experiences can be painful parts of life and talking about them can hasten change and improvement. As we develop a relationship with one another and reflect about the problems together, over time, I have found that people discover new ways of meeting the challenges that brought them to me.

It can be overwhelmingly scary to know where to begin in your healing journey. Wounds can build upon one another until it all feels like a tangled mess. Childhood and family wounds can dictate the lens in which you see the world. Looking through that lens can be complex and difficult to navigate alone. Whether the symptoms you are experiencing are affecting your current circumstances, creating self-worth issues or relationship difficulties, I love to meet you where you are at, and help you develop goals that lead to a fulfilling life.

There's no way around it, life can be hard. You deserve a space that is reserved for you. A place to land that is safe, real, and sometimes messy. You don’t have to keep doing it all alone. You don’t have to continue wandering around hoping that life will magically be different. You don't have to have it all together. You can make the decision to start showing up for yourself in new ways. and unearth the parts of yourself that are in desperate need of healing. At The Landing Place, you can land safely.

How do we become proud of ourselves, feel self-love, confidence, calmness, & peace? These questions may feel familiar to you, & the truth is, the answer looks different for everyone. Simple tasks can feel like a mountain to climb & self-criticism consumes our day echoing "what's wrong with me?" This experience feel isolating. We have all felt self-doubt. Maybe we have even felt so lost we question our identity altogether. Living in a world of constant comparison, it's easy to doubt ourselves. Now we find ourselves wanting freedom from this pattern, we are hungry & eager for change. You want to thrive, not just survive.

I've provided therapy services for adults, teens, and children for over 8 years. I've found that the individuals who seem to flourish working with me are those who are particularly committed to understanding themselves and their struggles at a deeper level. I work to help facilitate meaningful insights and this often includes exploration of earlier relationships in a client's life. I believe that each person I work with is a unique and complex individual needing services tailored to them.

Life can be pretty overwhelming at times. During the stressful times, you may have difficulty finding a way to cope and make the changes necessary to improve your life. The great thing about therapy is that it serves as a way to help you cope with the stressors in your life and helps you make the changes you desire.

We are more than our issues and bad days, but bad days suck - especially when we have a lot of them. I have found exploring all parts of you - your identity, culture, environment, attachment-styles, history, perspective, and more - empowers you to build a life that helps you navigate bad days in a way that feels "better" to you. I am a trauma-informed counselor that has walked through a wide variety of concerns, diagnoses, lifestyles, and experiences with my clients. I have found a love for working with teenagers, college students, relationships of all sorts, survivors of person-to-person harm, and transitions at any age.

"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." C.G. Jung-- You might suffer from anxiety, depression, grief, and/or relationship issues, but the key is that you are willing to explore why. My philosophy is holistic in that I feel like it is important to examine each part of life because I truly believe everything is connected when it concerns mental, emotional, and physical suffering and pain. I have recently completed a yoga teacher certification so I am able to incorporate somatic principles and movement into my work with clients.

Hello, my name is Caleb and the reason I love counseling is because It brings me immense joy to support people in their journey towards becoming the best versions of themselves. I strongly believe that people are inherently good, but life can be challenging and sometimes it can be difficult to see the good in ourselves. Although we cannot change our past circumstances or experiences.

I am a second-generation Christian family therapist who has been in practice since 1987, married for 34 years, 2 adult twin daughters, and now 2 sons (both daughters married). My overall philosophy is to assist clients in bringing balance to their lives by examining the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of their lives. It is important to see the individual as a part of a system, as what may work for one person may not work for another due to current family dynamics and unresolved issues from their past.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Kansas City?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
