
“Jack Howley is the Dallas Counseling Center's principal therapist with several years of psychiatric hospital training. Jack helps clients recover from abuse and/or neglect, including: * feeling you are a truly bad person, worthless, shameful; * feeling that emotions are confusing and out-of-control with possible flashbacks, or alternatively, being unable to get in touch with emotions; * depressed and/or anxious, sadness, anger; feeling suicidal or having self-harm impulses; * dissociative conditions with trance-like feelings and/or loss of time, or an identity disorder/identity confusion. Jack has successfully treated Dissociative Fugue clients and has published on this.
Jack uses the trauma therapy model. This includes cognitive therapy and insight oriented approaches, and does not focus on dredging up old memories. Jack helps the client to learn how to manage and tolerate feelings, including anger management techniques. Jack has training in several advanced specialties including hypnotherapy, NLP, EMDR.
Many of Jack's clients have a history of prior mis-diagnoses and multiple current diagnoses/symptoms including: Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly MPD), intrusive images & feelings, PTSD, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive features, addictions, personality disorders or traits possibly including Borderline personality features.”
