“I believe that each of us has the capability and resources to resolve most problems and issues in our lives. However, as science has begun to reveal, our emotions and memories may be stored within our body cells, appearing to us as sensations, aches, pains, and even illnesses. By ignoring these sometimes subtle bodily signals, we often lose track of who we are and what we truly want, desire and need. As a clinical mental health counselor and body psychotherapist, my goal is to help you to create greater empathy for and intimacy with yourself and others in your life.
I assist individuals and couples to develop greater insight, compassion and intimacy with themselves and with each other. My methods include cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, and gestalt therapy combined with body psychotherapy (gentle, respectful, non-threatening, non-sexual touch). Body psychotherapy acts as a catalyst to exposing underlying issues and emotions.
My knowledge of the mind/body connection is powerful. Former professor of health and physical education, I taught numerous physical activities, stress management and alternative health courses. My main body psychotherapy training is Rubenfeld Synergy. I have discovered that counseling combined with touch empowers individuals and transforms relationships.”
