“My focus is family relationships. I counsel ages 3 and up and enjoy working with adolescents, blended families, troubled marriages and parenting difficulties. I have additional training in sexual abuse recovery and adoption issues. I facilitate groups for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse every three months. My style is low-key and compassionate. In a world that is quick to judge, I offer understanding and practical recovery techniques. I provide professional, clinical counseling from a Christian perspective.
I use an eclectic method which includes understanding your past and reprograming faulty thinking which in turn changes beliefs and behaviors. Through specific techniques in psychoanalysis, behavior modification and cognitive therapy, the counselee is able to process old hurts and buried feelings. With children, I use art and play therapy.
Next group for childhood sexual abuse survivors begins July 29th. Having spent 25 years as a child care expert before becoming a licensed counselor, I have years of experience with parenting issues, divorce recovery, and blended families. I bring to my practice personal knowledge of the struggle of abuse recovery.”
