“As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I work primarily with adults and adolescents in individual and couples therapy. My treatment is based on a philosophy of mutual understanding, respect, and trust. In therapy, I work by listening and working actively with the patient to gain a deeper understanding of obstacles, internal struggles and conflicts, the impact of earlier life experiences, as well as repeating patterns of behavior that may be underlying symptoms and the root cause of difficulties. Treatment is individualized with emphasis on not only understanding difficulties, but also strengths and positive coping skills.
My specialty areas include relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, career/work concerns, health/medical related symptoms, eating and weight problems, sexuality, grief and loss, and stress management. I have also worked extensively with and am sensitive to cultural/ethnic adjustment and integration issues.
Aside from working in private practice, I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University and teaching at the Medical School. I am also seeing patients in the medical practice of John Pan,MD at the Center for Integrative Medicine.”
