Anne Strain

Clinical Social Work/Therapist , LCSW

(713) 338-9175
I believe that it is only within a relationship of trust that one's fondest dreams, wildest wishes and most paralyzing fears and anxieties can be recognized and productively explored. Such exploration is often the springboard for gaining awareness of aspects of one's self, one's way of being in the world, and one's patterns of relating to others that may be quite different from their conscious experience. I believe that the "symptoms" people experience are often a call to understanding and meaning, rather than pathology.
My therapeutic goal is to help co-create a space in which such exploration can occur, with respect for a person's own sense of directedness in terms of content and timing. Dream work is a powerful tool for understanding what the psyche is trying to bring into consciousness.
I have done a considerable amount of post-masters training in both psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as Jungian psychology, and consider depth work to be my clinical specialty.
