During these difficult times nerves are often frayed and relationships can get testy. As old wounds and past traumas get stirred up, anxiety and depression might resurface. I work with LGBT and straight individuals and couples, striving to help people feel comfortable expressing their feelings and asserting their needs. I have advanced training in trauma, adoption, gay/lesbian and couple's therapy. I also have expertise treating the impact of parental divorce, substance abuse and immigration on adult-child relationships. An important goal is for you to gain more control of your issues and feel more confident in your decisions.
Talking about feelings during particularly stressful times might stir up emotions from the past. Together we will explore these feelings so you can understand why certain relationships or situations distress you. The more attention you pay to the “red flags” and what disturbs you, the more control you will have over them.
With empathy and patience, I work with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, races, sexual orientations and careers. My focus is on understanding the ups and downs of your life so you can get through a difficult periods as a stronger, more confident person. I offer a sliding scale fee.
