You have the power to change your life. We all have moments when we struggle with periods of difficult transitions, relationship conflict and loss. At times we become overwhelmed with feelings of sadness, worry and confusion, not knowing where to turn for answers. We get disconnected from our authentic self and lose touch with our life's meaning and purpose. Together we can work to identify obstacles and formulate strategies to help you unlock your full potential, pursue your goals, and make the changes you are seeking. I will help you sort through your thoughts and feelings so you can rediscover your power and reclaim your life.

Early relationships shape the way the mind and brain develop from our young years into our adult lives. Our connections with caregivers induce neural circuit firings that persist throughout our lives, shaping how we think, feel, remember, and behave. When we are lucky enough to have secure attachment experiences in which we feel seen, safe, soothed, and secure—the “four S’s of attachment” that serve as the foundation for a healthy mind—these relational experiences stimulate the neuronal activation and growth of the integrative fibers of the brain.

Looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming, especially if your life isn’t how you’ve envisioned it. Are you and your partner having a hard time understanding each other? Are your children struggling to display their strengths and put their best self forward? Is your family in a perpetual pattern of conflict? Do you feel lost after your last break-up? Do you wonder who you are and what you really want from life? Therapy will give you a safe space to sort out your feelings.

Life has become very complicated and it's easy to get overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. This is especially true for those who grew up without the love and nurturing that help build good self-esteem and resilience. The good news is that, with the right help, you can learn new ways of coping and feel better, stronger.

IT'S TIME. Time to make the changes you've been thinking about, changes you know you need to make but can't quite get to the "how" and "when." That's what I'm here for. Together we'll go on a journey of discovery: how did I get here? Where do I want to go? What obstacles am I putting in my way? How do I find the Courage?

I help clients become their personal best. Some issues may be about anxiety and fears, self defeating behaviors, negative habits, relationship problems, stress related to infertility, test anxiety, business/career success, smoking, preparing for surgery, and other health related issues. I combine hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique, guided imagery, stress management and other approaches to help my clients obtain lasting changes. My belief is that we have "negative conditioning" or negative mind-set about our world and ourselves, which in turn leads to negative behavior.

Do you feel like life is "too much?" Do you worry, feel anxious, ruminate or sometimes feel paralyzed, frozen or numb? Do you feel panicked, or find yourself drifting off from the task at hand? Do you find it hard to stay present? Or, do you have issues with self esteem? Do you feel insecure, inadequate, doubt yourself, feel "not good enough" or like you don't "measure up?" Or, is your relationship in a "rut", less than fulfilling, or in a "total mess?" For over 30 years, I have been helping people to discover themselves and to grow.

Past experiences can haunt you and contribute to overwhelming emotions that derail your best intentions and interfere with your goals, dreams, and connections with others. Interpersonal relationships are challenging enough without societal pressures, less-than-helpful norms and legacies, and problematic environments that make us feel devalued or ashamed. I also understand the unique challenges of life as a creative. Asking for help is tough, but building a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself, others, and your nervous system is even tougher without support. You've already taken the hardest step. Don't stop now!

“Let me support you to build a greater awareness of your wisdom, and strength” As a licensed psychotherapist I can provide that support, awareness, problem-solving skills, and greater coping strategies for issues as depression, anxiety, parenting, domestic violence, and relationship difficulties. I have clinical experience working with children (play therapy), individuals, families, couples and groups. We all have an 'inner critic'. A pattern of blaming ourselves for events that were out of our control. This negative inner talk is more powerful when we fall into anxiety or depression.

Bad things are bound to happen in life - this is just part of being alive. Sometimes it is easy for us to bounce back to our to normal lives & then there are those other times where it seems as if we are stuck on a rollercoaster of emotions with no end in sight. And then at other moments, we think that we've dealt with this bad thing, only to have it keep popping up in random ways in our lives. Being in that kind of place can feel frustrating, confusing, lonely, and let's face it, pretty scary because it is difficult to know what to do, where to go, or who to turn to for help.

It's 3AM and you're wide awake – sleepless with that aching emptiness inside. Your heart is pounding and you can feel it in your throat. You're longing for someone to tell you what to do about your broken heart. All you can think about is the fact that your loved one is gone. Completely overwhelmed with sadness and fear, wandering from room to vacant room, you wonder when your heartache will ever end. It’s been impossible to focus. Friends sometimes say things that make no sense: “Just give it time.” “Keep busy, you'll get through this..." One friend, post your break up, said: "You'll meet someone better." What?!!? Your heart aches.

Looking for the right therapist can be a very difficult process. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and strengths-based. I understand how difficult it can be to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. With this in mind, as your therapist, I will create a safe space that is non-judgmental and supportive.

How can I find a therapist in Encino?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
