My approach to treatment is interactive and engaging. I find that clients appreciate and benefit from an active therapist that will help identify areas of difficulty and work on initiating changes rather than a passive, primarily listening approach to treatment. A comfortable fit between therapist and client is an essential part of successful work together. Consistent with that, I'm happy to do a phone consultation so you can get a sense of how I approach this process. In terms of insurance, if you have out-of-network benefits we should be able to make therapy affordable.
Why Psychotherapy? Therapy can facilitate a variety of personal changes that will contribute to a more satisfying life. This typically means understanding and changing behavior that doesn't seem to be working for you, improving existing relationships and developing new ones, conquering fears/anxiety, reducing depression and more.
A bit about my professional background: I completed my psychoanalytic post-doctoral training at NYU. I have done post-doctoral work at the William Alanson White Institute in NYC. My approach to treatment is contemporary psychoanalytic. We will explore all facets of your life - present and past - and work towards developing the life you desire.
