Dr. Roger C Hartman

Psychologist

(605) 215-6113
I work primarily with people between the ages of 18 & 60. Between these ages people are encountering various life circumstances which emerge from common developmental progressions. Each of us is uniquely shaped by their own family of origin dynamics, genetics, life experiences and personal choices. Present relationships are a culmination of these influences & impact our level of emotional distress & dissatisfaction. I work most effectively with people who are motivated by their present life experiences. Our motivation most often arises out of painful or lonely circumstances, from which we often seek to avoid or escape.
Individual issues: 1) depression; 2) anxiety; 3) stress management;4)loss/grief; 5)self-esteem. Relationships issues: 1) couples conflict management; 2) communication styles; 3) divorce & adjustment; 4) help with emotional abuse & control issues. Sexuality issues: 1) sexual identity concerns; 2) sexual addiction; 3) gay & lesbian concerns.
I have been practicing for 30 years. My office is an individual practice and, as a result, very private! It is also very comfortable. I've developed the ability to get to the heart of issues quickly. I take a relaxed and informal approach with people because life already presses us into so many roles.
