To quote Anais Nin, " We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are". When you are in the middle of a problem it is hard to find solutions because there is a lack of prespective. Friends and family may have their own viewpoint that make it hard to be objective. Therapy provides a non-judgemental place to find new solutions when old behaviors don't work anymore. I have over 12 years experience successfully helping patients find alternative ways of veiwing things and making decisions about what they want in their lives.
I work with whatever my clients struggle with including: job difficulties, financial problems, relationship problems, low self-esteem, depression, eating disorders (including over and compulsive eating), substance abuse and family of origin problems. I have Post Graduate Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Compulsive Behaviors.
There is a time for therapy and a time to live your life with the new tools you have learned. I encourage my patients to take a break when appropriate. Psychotherapy is a lifetime commitment to working on oneself but not a lifetime commitment to weekly psychotherapy.
