I utilize a therapeutic approach that emphasizes training received in Contemplative/Mindfulness Psychology, Cognitive Behavior, Gestalt Therapy, & Emotional Focused Therapy. My approach evolved out of several years of working within the Adventure Therapy field supporting people in awakening to a deeper relationship with themselves & community through engagement with external world/nature. I have extensive experience serving youth, men in transitional life phases, couples struggling with communication, & families in conflict. I look to assist clients in understanding their mental/emotional self via a direct empathetic approach.
I embrace an approach that trusts the client knows the way towards health. My 25 years plus of diverse counseling experience allows me to assist clients in recognizing and developing the inner resources needed to move through the emotional/mental blockages that impair their ability to take the necessary risks to deeply connect in relationship with others.
My focus is on creating a trusting relationship with clients that provides the safety needed to take emotional risks so they can arrive at new personal insights, be free of restrictive thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that block maturation of the wise and deeper self. Increased self awareness ultimately allows authentic connection with others to deepen.
