Edward W. Darell, M.D.

Psychiatrist , MD

(646) 798-2273
I'm a knowledgeable, conscientious and compassionate psychiatrist with over 30 years experience. Former Assistant Clinical Professor at NYU School of Medicine. I mainly work with clients suffering from depression, bipolar illness, psychosis, anxiety and panic attacks. My visits, not including the 90 minute initial interview, last about 50 minutes, though I am generous with my time. My sessions consist of symptom-focused therapy and medication management. I tailor my approach to my my clients' needs, and strive to provide helpful feedback. I work well with other mental health professionals, since I believe that collaborative treatment is important.
I believe that psychiatry is both an art and a science, and requires a particular mix of medical and interpersonal skills. My approach is eclectic, warm, practical, and down-to-earth. If a particular treatment isn't working, I won't hesitate to recommend a different approach.
My personal and professional backgrounds are diverse. I spent my childhood in England, and completed a French secondary school education. I have worked with clients from many backgrounds and walks of life, and relate to people on multiple levels. I speak fluent French, fair German and a little Polish.
