Stressed? Burned out? Can't sleep? It's time to get our of your head and back into your body! I use a holistic, mind-body-spirit focused approach to my therapy and health coaching. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you create new pathways for growth, meaning, self-compassion and a better understanding of your life experience. I believe we all possess the strength to overcome life's challenges, but often we need extra guidance, support and new "tools" to get to a more fulfilling place.

I love working with clients who want a better understanding of the deep interior of their mental, physical, and spiritual function in relation to the world around them and the relationships they engage in. Using an eclectic and collaborative approach, the relationship I build with my clients is deeply rooted in the Humanistic tradition of treating others with unconditional positive regard. Paradoxically, many of our wounds are created in painful relationships that make us scared to trust other people, yet these wounds can only be healed within the context of relationship; therapy provides this opportunity.

My approach to therapy is to provide a warm, empathetic space for individuals to explore what is burdening them and the obstacles they are navigating. The clients I often work with seek help to address trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or other life transitions. My clients are motivated to explore their experiences to get to the root of their struggles and change maladaptive thinking and habits. Most feel overwhelmed or disconnected and want to feel more grounded and aligned with who they are and what brings them joy.

I work with those who believe that relationships (with ourselves, others, and our environments) are what make life meaningful. If you’re struggling to feel fulfilled or consistent, I can provide support while we work to identify and address the contributing issues. I have a special interest in the intersection between ADHD and self-esteem issues, but I work with individuals, couples, and families around a variety of issues. Whether your priority is to facilitate concrete changes, or to simply feel seen and understood, therapy with me will be centered around you and your unique needs and preferences.

I work with adults and couples who want to build more fulfilling relationships and less anxious lives. You're feeling anxious, like you have to be perfect, and you're overwhelmed with all of the demands. You're stuck in the same relational patterns and past wounds continue to resurface. As a couple, you may find yourself having the same argument and feeling disconnected. Relationships expose our deepest wounds, fears, desires, and needs. I enjoy working with people struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, relationship issues, and attachment trauma.

Have you felt like lately everything around you seems a little heavier? You are NOT alone in this feeling. If it hasn’t always felt very easy to ask for help, maybe now is the time you’re able to try something different. I see individual adults working through life transitions, trauma, anxiety and depression, building self-esteem, identity exploration, interpersonal relationships, and anything else that might be weighing them down.

As a Counselor, I am proud to have the privilege to step into the therapeutic space with a warm heart, playful spirit, and open mind. Having worked in a variety of settings over the past 10 years from school-based counseling to county-wide Crisis Response, I have witnessed the full spectrum of the human experience across the lifespan. I am aware how jarring transitions can be, how trauma shatters our sense of self and security, and how disruptive and painful depression and anxiety are in one’s daily life.

I believe it's important to meet clients where they are and walk with them along their paths. Losses of all types, no matter how large or small they may seem to others, shape us in profound ways. Experiencing the loss of a beloved person or pet can cause us to feel as though life is out of our control. We all have inner wisdom and intuition to regain our paths to authenticity and live our best lives and through our work together, I will help you tap into these strengths. I am here to help you shape your "new normal" and provide support and compassion along the way.

Dr. Larson-Konar believes: people have a tremendous capacity for inner strength, but sometimes we all need help accessing that strength. Therapy is a collaboration. Dr. Larson-Konar approaches therapy from a feminist and anti-racist stance, and he prizes the therapeutic relationship, ensuring that it's safe, warm, caring, and empowering. He strives to balance support with challenge. Therapy is hard work, but it's also fun, funny, and life-affirming.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed? Struggling with your relationships and not sure why? You're not alone. I'm here to offer you space to explore, feel better and thrive. You don't get a medal for suffering, so let's work together to find you more joy in this one, beautiful (hard) life. I believe one of the bravest things we can do is begin to understand our own story. Vulnerability can be one of the scariest, most liberating, and empowering acts, and undoubtedly takes courage - so I commend you for being here, wherever you are in your process.

All of us deserve to feel seen, heard, and known—without this privilege, we are often left feeling uncertain about ourselves and the world around us. This experience can feel paralyzing at times, particularly when we fall out of touch with ourselves and our intuition. I appreciate the strength it takes to ask for help in this process. Many of us desire for life to look differently but feel stuck taking the first step to get there. As a therapist, my role is to support folks in finding the strength and knowledge within themselves to begin working towards these changes.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
