I shelter – focusing less on individual and more on collective healing – from Primary Trauma (including Historical, Intergenerational, Racial, Spiritual/Religious), Secondary Trauma, Burnout, (the combination therein) Compassion Fatigue, and/or their cousins: Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Grief, Transition, Illness, Aging, and Dying.
I love listening. It’s been deepened by many decades and degrees. But, before that, I was a trauma survivor. So I listen to you and your clients the way I wanted someone to listen to me. Both. And. Beyond the decades and degrees, which define my listening in different ways, I shelter people; under the beautiful, broad umbrella of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). I listen - as a container - to create space for clients to see and find meaning; however they define that. I listen with a biopsychosocialspiritual approach. I listen to private clients, organizational clients, and clients experiencing (& transitioning out of) homelessness.

Thank you for your interest in my profile. I work with clients who need support, a clearer understanding of themselves and their environment, and are ready for change. Clients struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, PTSD, grief, schizophrenia, bipolar, and personality disorders, as well as relationships, career support, aging, and other daily life issues are great candidates for therapy with me. I see individual clients of any age (however under the age of 16, parent/caregiver collaboration is required), families, and couples. I offer a kind, supportive approach, with plenty structure and self-empowerment.

They may include Illness, chronic pain, financial woes, death of loved ones, and loss of independence.
Are you a parent or caregiver of a high-functioning adult with mild cognitive disabilities or autism? If so, you understand how challenging it can be for them to find their place in society. Your child may be transitioning out of the public school system and trying to find their place in the greater world. Can they get married? Are they capable of working? Living independently? These decisions are fraught with anxiety and sadness as your loved one learns to navigate the outside world. As they progress through adulthood, ongoing emotional challenges and struggles persist. You want your child to feel successful and fulfilled.

Frequent session focus includes relationship challenges, gender & sexuality, grief & loss, depression & anxiety, trauma, life transitions, empathy boundary development, self-acceptance.
Now Accepting New Clients (2023): The stressors of modern living create noisy interference in the “telephone line” to our highest self (often called the soul, spirit, unified field, universal consciousness, etc.). Through my intuitive psychotherapy practice, I cast my mystical gifts through the lens of my expertise as a licensed clinical social worker. Marrying the two allows for optimum balance between divine clarity and therapeutic processing and integration work. Clients benefit on a soul level while remaining anchored in practical application tools for everyday living.

One of the most magical components of therapy is how it provides a person with the opportunity to discover their true inner self. As a therapist who has worked with people of various backgrounds, I have witnessed the powerful growth clients have achieved in all facets of life. I work with children, adolescents and adults who are struggling with relationships affected by trauma, in addition to other interpersonal issues at home or in school. As my practice’s name implies, we can all feel broken at times. And to compound matters, we might face discrimination through no fault of our own—on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender, finances, age, health or ability status, or neurocognitive differences. In my years of practice with the chronically ill and under-housed, I’ve seen and addressed the fallout from stigma and institutional barriers all day every day. So that’s the bad news, which you probably already know.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
