Colette Spaulding is a Licensed MSW and has worked for 18 years in the mental health field. She views each client as a whole person, taking a client-centered approach and collaborating with them to match interventions with their particular needs. She has worked with survivors of abuse, domestic violence, and trauma, as well as clients with mood disorders, anxiety and depression, grief, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Her professional experience includes working with culturally diverse populations in urban and rural settings, with a wide variety of mental health issues and challenges.

Due to my variety of professional and relatable life experiences I value the privilege to work collaboratively with children, adolescents and adults to attain successful outcomes in areas of life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management, and domestic violence. Meeting the client where they are at is an excellent starting point within the all-important therapeutic alliance.

I have a passion for working with individuals looking to escape the yo-yo dieting cycle, learn about the many negatives of diet culture, and finally find body and food acceptance. As someone who is neurodiverse, I have a deep connection to various neurodiverse communities and firmly believe in understanding neurodiversity as a natural variation rather than a “disorder”. I also draw upon principles from WPATH and stand firm in my commitment to the LGBTQIA+, HAES, and ENM/poly communities. Growing up in a rural area in the thumb of Michigan taught me about the power of community and human connection, which I always bring to sessions!

In 2000 I began my career working in the counseling field by helping individuals suffering with substance abuse and mental health disorders. I soon discovered my passion is helping individuals rebuild their lives and relationships by over coming struggles in life.
