My approach blends the evidence-based practices of Attachment Science (EFIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
Do you find yourself struggling with negative self-talk? Do you avoid difficult conversations? Is constant worry causing you to be indecisive? Do you suspect that your challenging past is interfering with your present life? Our brains and bodies can get stuck in anxious states and maladaptive patterns that can significantly impact our relationships, leisure time, and professional lives. I will work closely with you to challenge your negative self-beliefs, teach you psychological skills, and use trauma-focused therapy techniques to create inner peace. Your life CAN feel better and easier, sooner than you think.

My training in EMDR helps me take a good history of difficult and traumatic experiences in your life, in an effort to help make sense of the past so that it no longer controls the present.
I may be a good fit for you if you find yourself experiencing moments of intense emotion, such as frustration, anger, rage, sadness, emptiness, and overwhelm. You may be misappropriating your intense feelings at your friends/family/significant others and may be at risk of losing important relationships. You might also be struggling to function at work, calling off sick more than you would like. You might also be trying to soothe yourself in ways that ultimately don't fix the problem and might also make you feel worse, guilty, or ashamed.

The "bottom-up" approach includes EMDR, which helps to resolve traumas and other deeper emotional challenges that block us.
Welcome! I know it isn't easy to find a therapist, so I'll get to the point: I strive to create a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and validating environment to explore challenges, get stuff off your chest, get to the root of the challenges, and cultivate willingness toward making meaningful changes in your life. Everything else that happens in therapy (tools, methods, modalities) starts from here, and my number one priority is creating a positive, safe relationship that supports your desire to change.

With specialization in evidenced-based approaches, EMDR and DBT, I can help you heal from past traumas, manage emotions, and develop coping skills for life's challenges.
We all struggle at times, battling inner conflicts that can drain us. As an attachment-focused therapist, I believe we all long for connections—to others, ourselves, and life. It's natural to experience moments of disconnection, and sometimes, we just need a little help recognizing where it's coming from.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
