As a Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor and the Executive Director of the Carolina Sexual Wellness Center, I am passionate about helping my clients improve their sex lives and increase authenticity. I supervise a wonderful group of sex-positive clinicians who share my focus on issues related to sex, sexuality and gender. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University College of Behavioral Sciences, Twin Cities, Eagan, MN. I also have been a Licensed Practical Nurse, since 1990. I have completed education in sex therapy, from University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menamonie, WI. I have been working since 2014 as a therapist. I also have experience working with veterans, and have worked in both acute inpatient psychiatric hospital and outpatient intensive therapy.

Gabriela operates from a person-centered approach and a strengths-based perspective to help individuals become the best versions of themselves. Every individual is unique. I am a therapist that views the client/therapist dynamic as a partnership. I take a strengths-based approach to treatment and draw on concepts from my training in behavioral change as well as insight-building techniques including CBT, EMDR, psychoanalysis, attachment theory, EFT, and the Gottman Methods. Liana K. Nelson-Peterson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician with 20 years of experience in mental health. Liana started her career with the intention of dedicating herself to inspire more people of color to feel free and empowered to seek therapy without fearing rejection within their community. Liana initially started her career as a Family Support Case manager with the Missouri Division of Social Services. Liana continues to work with individuals—young and seasoned—families, and couples to help build connections by teaching and educating the dynamics of grief, complicated grief, levels of intimacy and attachment.

My approach to counseling is that of a “fellow traveler” who takes the journey alongside of you in a way that is calm, open, supportive, empathic, and actively engaged with you at all times.
