What if you could live your life with confidence, trust, understanding, and intimacy? If you're having a hard time, feeling disconnected, or having communication problems, I want to help. While my practice specializes in challenges around sex, communication, intimacy, and infidelity, over the years I've also had the privilege of working successfully with people bringing a broad range of other concerns to my office, including gender identity and transitions, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, grief, self-esteem issues, and more. Things can change. Just by reaching out, you've already started down a path of insight and healing.

Through my own life experiences, coupled with extensive training, I specialize in the areas of: child/adolescent development, ADHD, family conflict, infertility, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, self esteem, and the impact of severe trauma such as suicide.
“The only thing constant in life is change,” Sometimes change is anticipated other times it is scary, lonely and not what we had in our plans. My goal as a therapist is to work together with clients to move towards a future that they want while processing the situation that led them to seek counseling and learn what can be done differently by using their existing skills, strategies and ideals or developing new ones. I strive to partner with every client in an individual, family or group setting as they navigate the successes, trials and tribulations of this crazy ride we call life.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my goals are to create a safe and supportive environment in which all individuals can thrive, contributing to a healthier and happier family life. I love working with children and adolescents, and use play therapy, art, and music to help them express feelings and concerns when words don’t come so easily. I also value working with couples and individuals to explore the impact their family of origin or current relationships are having on their emotions and coping. Finding healthy ways to cope with the stresses of today's world can be challenging, and I'd welcome supporting you in your journey.

Do you feel overwhelmed, overthinking your options while trying to find a starting point for change? Reach out to me if you are willing to explore yourself and why you are the way you are. So many of my intakes have simply started with “So I saw this TikTok and I think I have...”, and that's ok! Throughout our lives we collect experiences that shape us, however some of those shapes just aren't helpful anymore. Perhaps you are just curious about yourself and want to get a professional's perspective.

Being nervous about starting therapy is natural, which is why I work with each client to establish a relationship of honesty and openness so you can feel comfortable sharing your feelings. There is no magic wand in life but you don’t have to face challenges on your own. Therapy is a journey. I approach each session as a time to learn about you—what motivates you and what ails you. I understand the importance of each individual’s culture so I can fully understand you as a person. Together, we will determine the best possible solutions to address your individual needs.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
