We will work together to identify immediate needs, and if necessary explore the origin of your struggles and address these issues through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, EMDR, and/or dialectical behavioral techniques.
I help individuals who are trying to negotiate a healthy work/life balance or feeling overwhelmed by an unexpected loss, relationship issues, or past traumatic events. Sometimes it is difficult to even know where to start, so together we will tackle the obstacles that made you doubt yourself or increased your symptoms of anxiety or depression. I will create a safe space to help you identify your strengths, explore areas of growth, and assist you in creating attainable goals. You will develop healthy coping skills, build resilience, and change thought patterns that have held you back from creating the life you desire.

As an EMDR, Mindfulness, ego state therapist, I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood emotional neglect, and PMDD/PMS.
Do you find yourself avoiding intimacy or feeling anxious in social situations? Do you notice that past wounds prevent you from connecting and being in the present? Perhaps you forgot how and who to trust? Are you feeling intense anger, sadness, hopelessness, or frustration? These feelings are not going away despite talking to friends / family. You like you are in a hamster wheel. You are blaming yourself for what happened and feel unworthy of love. Trauma anniversaries bring flashbacks, nightmares, or even feeling "jumpy" triggered at times. Just know that you aren't alone in this!

Thank you for reading my bio. I am passionate about helping clients discover their truest selves, beneath the layers of life’s experiences, traumas, and negative beliefs. Through talking, we discover the problem… then we need to do something about it. Utilizing specific trauma release techniques such as somatic experiencing, EMDR, and mindfulness and therapeutic yoga, I have seen amazing shifts in a fairly short amount of time. Whatever your goal, we can work together to achieve balance and lasting change.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
