Together we will explore your history, patterns, and identities to improve your relationship/s, better manage your anxiety or depression, reduce shame, and enhance your confidence and sense of self.
Hi, and welcome. Wherever you are on your journey, whatever may be taking place inside your mind, your body, or around you in this moment— welcome. As a social worker for a decade, my experience includes work with adolescents, twenty-somethings, and adults in the non-profit and private sectors. I ground my practice in values of intersectionality, warmth, and creativity. I use the lens of relational psychodynamics, feminism, and queer theory to support both individuals and couples.

I help clients heal anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles and unhealthy patterns.
I have a compassionate and strengths-based approach to therapy. I believe that it is the relationship we build together that empowers you to work towards your goals. While treatment looks different for each person, I integrate techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, psychodynamic theory, and trauma-informed practice into my work. As a bilingual/bicultural person of color , I am particularly interested in working with those who want to explore racial/cultural identity.

I provide individual, couples, and group therapy with a specialization in men's issues.
The decision to pursue therapy requires vulnerability and risk. Choosing a therapist who understands this reality is important. Like most adults, you may be seeking therapy to explore why your relationships are unsatisfying or why you feel unfulfilled. You may hope to understand how painful emotions like shame, sadness, and anger have affected you. Many adults seek solutions on their own, only to feel stuck in repetitive cycles of behavior that produce momentary relief.

As a Person-Centered clinician, I use active listening skills, empathic responding & unconditional positive regard to build a healthy therapeutic relationship with my clients to help facilitate continual growth.
So many times we pre-judge situations based on past traumas or conditioning. Entering an intimate space with yourself is no easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives in order to enhance their overall mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the here & now. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

I know relationship and intimacy struggles are a sensitive topic to discuss with your closest friends, let alone a virtual stranger.
Relationships can be a powerful source of fulfillment to draw from in our lives. Miscommunication, old patterns, unrealistic expectations and daily stress sometimes step in, preventing them from providing that happiness and strength. Therapy can break down barriers to improve communication, decrease conflict and increase emotional and physical intimacy. I specialize in the respectful treatment of relationship and sexual concerns, utilizing an open, honest, and sex-positive approach to help assess your unique personal goals and assist you in developing more positive and fulfilling relationships- with yourself and with partners.

I can arrange a brief consultation with individuals and couples to first figure out how I can be a resource for you and address any questions before getting started.
“How is this therapist going to help me?” Fair question. From over 10,000 hours in my broad clinical career to my own harrowing lived experiences, I will bring you a time-tested perspective ready to address your real-life concerns in therapy. The clients I serve come from diverse ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds, but share the essential similarity of readiness for change. Furthermore, the clinical issues I help individuals and couples to address range from chronic mental illness, neurodivergent struggles, substance misuse, gender/sexuality development, general life "stuck-ness" and differing forms of infidelity.

I am a licensed clinical social worker who feels privileged to be a therapist; I am honored to be part of a client's journey. I believe that the verbal sharing of experiences in a therapeutic relationship allows clients to gain insight, develop awareness and ultimately fosters growth. I work with clients on a variety of issues but specialize in relationships, working with both individuals and couples. I often work through an attachment lens but value & use other therapeutic modalities as well. I feel that the therapeutic relationship is the most valuable driver for change in therapy.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
