The relationship between the client and the therapist is the most crucial element.
Do you ever experience having thoughts, images, or memories stuck in your head? Sometimes you may even experience reactions in your body, such as: heart beating fast, pressure in your chest, or a rock in your stomach. Sometimes people even feel like they are going numb. You do not have to live this way, there is a solution. Often, we manage things effectively, but occasionally we experience life events that can be disturbing to our system. Most of the time, our brain can digest the situations we encounter. However, sometimes those skills that have worked in the past are no longer helping.

The relationship and mutual respect between therapist and client is vital in the process of successful treatment.
I am an advocate of preventative mental health and reducing the stigma attached to mental illness and emotional problems. I believe that psychological disorders, difficulty coping and healing from life changes, grief, and stress should be handled with dignity and respect with as much knowledge and care as physical illnesses. There should be no shame or embarrassment attached to healing oneself and being the person you are created to be.

I am open to working to address a multiplicity of issues to include but not limited to, depression, anxiety, grief, family conflicts, marital issues, couples counseling, personality disorders, and parenting.
Every client is different, some needing help to resolve deep rooted past issues, others needing help with navigating general day to day life issues. No matter the problem, what all clients have in common is the need for the additional layer of support and guidance.

The feedback from my clients has affirmed that I am very skilled in assisting all types of relationship struggles.
I have counseled a variety of clients and value each one as an individual even when they are part of a couple or family unit. I understand it is hard to decide to make an appointment. We will take the time to break your solutions into manageable pieces. My goal in therapy is progress but it all starts with you. Contact me today for a free phone consultation so that we may get to know each other and decide together what is your best course of action.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples who want to improve their ability to enjoy life.
Have you ever wished life was different? Often, people go through life pretending things are “ok.” In reality, everyone experiences problems. Often, we are afraid to share them with others. We're afraid of their response. You don't have to do it alone anymore. No matter the problem you are facing... depression, anxiety, trauma, loneliness... I believe together we can take steps to create a better life for you. I believe big changes are made by taking small, consistent steps. I believe a strong, collaborative, therapeutic relationship helps those I work with to explore what is holding them back, while we work toward change.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
