Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist: California, Florida, Michigan and Delaware.
Licensed in CA, FL, MI and DE. Psychotherapy is a journey of discovery. It is a walk toward the self. The purpose of psychotherapy is to assist the patient with knowing the Self: their intrinsic goodness, wisdom and strength found within. For women and couples, this requires a setting aside of assumptions about the self and others in order for curiosity to emerge. In psychotherapy, we explore what brings meaning to life and what creates value. We ask, “Do my actions bring me closer to the person I want to be?” As I assist the patient with shoring up coping skills we also explore the wondrous road back to the Self.

You might be asking, "How do I restore balance in my life?" In the complex dance of relationships, maintaining harmony can sometimes feel like an insurmountable challenge. Particularly in intimate relationships or within the family unit, it’s not uncommon to feel disconnected, despite your best efforts. Rekindling love, intimacy, and warmth in these relationships is within reach.

As a beginning therapist, my goal is not only to learn to help others in every way that I can, but to be a sounding board for those who struggle with their identity, who have been silenced in their lives, and have been looking for a caring person to turn to. In the journey of 1000 miles, the first 500 are often taking the step to seek the help that one needs, and I have experience in helping people who are having difficulties in life with grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, family medical diagnoses, and other challenging areas.

We have been providing counseling services for many years, gaining a strong understanding in working w/children, adolescents & adults, individual, family, group, school, jail, mental health &/or addiction rehab settings.
As you maneuver through growing pains, as a child/adult you may have felt, "nobody knows what I have been through, walked in my shoes," Situations are often so tied into one another that its like a knot in a shoelace, you get on one knee, using one hand trying to get it a loose, the more you mess with it, the more tangled it becomes as you juggle other stuff. At some point we realize, I have to sit down for this, take time. Both hands are needed to pinch that knot just right. Yet, some of us don't have two hands, or time to sit down. We are worn out, our environment and/or life's demands don't allow us to unravel our stuff safely.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
