Often this doesn't require many years of therapy. What I tell couples all the time is this, "what may seem hopeless at the beginning is actually very changeable." I utilize a positive, values-driven approach to help couples create a relationship where both partners feel honored and respected.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapy providing individual, couple, and family therapy in McLean, Virginia. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Johns Hopkins University, and my Master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland. I am currently a candidate in training to become a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. I also teach free 6-week workshops for couples on communication and managing financial stress through the Together Program (TogetherProgram.org).

Couples work is challenging and emotionally provocative. Although each couple is unique the following principles hold true in treatment of the majority of partners. 1) A good marriage requires both spouses to psychologically separate from their family of origin and shift their primary love, loyalty to each other. An individual cannot fully participate in an interdepended relationship without being first an independent and autonomous person.

During difficult times, the word “unravel” resonates with most of us.
