Most of my clients see me for help coping with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, also stress related to work.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and trained to provide counseling and psychotherapy. What is the difference? Counseling is usually for more solution focused needs and can be short term. Psychotherapy is not advise. We explore deeper emotional issues, identify the causes and work toward a better understanding of yourself so that you can move on and develop healthier ways of coping with life and people. I practice CBT/CPT: Cognitive behavioral/processing therapy which explores how your thought patterns can affect your feelings and behaviors. I find this most useful as it helps people learn to help themselves.

While the work we do is serious, I provide a comfortable environment filled with light, humor, and genuine positive regard. I offer a lively and interactive experience regardless of your needs. I am trained in several models, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS); however, I believe a solid therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and change.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
