I work with adults and teens ages 12 as they navigate change, communication struggles, and painful experiences. I strive to see everyone through the lens of their strengths. My goal is to help clients experiencing anxiety, depression, loss and grief, effects of trauma, or suicidal thoughts, achieve stability and thrive through use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I rely heavily on mindfulness-based practices to increase emotional awareness that is needed before change.

I offer family session with teens and parents to aid in understanding one another.
I have a deep and convicted belief in the power of therapy. I have learned it is a privilege and beautiful honor to sit with clients and hear their story. Everyone's story is important and meaningful. I have learned the connection between therapist and client is essential and can be life altering to someone who may be, or may feel, alone. The need for connection is paramount in our human experience and sometimes it is lacking in our lives. I take this into account with every client, and I offer that connection to my clients. I strive to provide an affirmative, inclusive, and respectful environment to those in the LGBTQ+ community.

It's my job is to walk beside the client at their pace in order to see their world. Using a cognitive-behavioral approach in therapy means clients not only uncover insights about themselves but they also learn about changes needed to reach their desired goals. My clients leave with numerous tools to utilize throughout their lives. People are inspiring creations to me, I love working with people, regardless of their issues, and believe each of us has the power to shape our own future into whatever we desire. Personalized solutions are critical for the success of each individual, couple and family.

I can help you gain insight into yourself, clarify your goals, find purpose and gain relief from mental and sexual health challenges. Humor can be a vital part of therapy, too, as it gives us moments of relief and can bring connection. I enjoy discussing how important religion is to clients and how religion and sexuality can blend really well together. Unfortunately, I do not take: Medicaid, Medicare, TriWest, or TriCare. The best way to reach me is email.

It’s not a mystery: if you’re skilled at something, it’s because you understand the process. You know the right moves to make and you know when to make them. Taking control of your mental health—navigating your own mind— is no different. Contentment, confidence, emotional intelligence, temperamental control, peace of mind, self-worth, resiliency, and every other mental health trait on the “desirable” side of the well-being equation are within your grasp when you understand healthy processes and the embrace the possibilities.

Hello - I'm Michele and I've been in practice for the last 16 years working with children and families first in teen crisis center, residential housing for severe and persistent mentally ill adults, as a school counselor in both elementary and middle school setting and then in community mental health. These experiences have given me understanding of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and social pressures. I understand that many of these issues impair a person's functioning at home, school, and with their friends. I've been told that I'm both playful, insightful, and yet straightforward in my approach to therapy.

I have lived in Idaho for over 15 years & have 6 children. I am both an adventurer & treasure hunter at heart. I love working to help people achieve their ideal self. Many people have goals and hopes that they wish to accomplish, and often times these objectives are complicated by challenges they are currently facing or have faced in the past. I believe that the individual is the catalyst for change in their life, and my position as a counselor is to help them identify those resources that they have used in the past as well as employ new resources.

I am an ally with the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-, Trans-, Queer (Questioning) and plus) community as well as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) community. I assist individuals, couples, and families with rebuilding trust, advocating for their "space", and acknowledging their worth. Tools that will be explored are communication skills, boundary settings without guilt, and building our emotional intelligence. My hope for clients is to empower themselves to not only understand their needs and wants but to be proactive with their lives.

Have you been struggling with the same problems, thoughts, or feelings for weeks, months, or even years and can't seem to get them under control? Are your intimate, social, and work relationships being affected by reoccurring problems and thoughts? It's very frustrating when your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are not in line with your values and who you want to be. You know that if you could just learn to let go of the past and focus on the present, then your life and relationships will improve; but you just don't know how. Is there hope?

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
