I have a lot of experience in dealing with trauma and am trained in CPT, TF-CBT and currently being trained in EMDR.
Our mental health affects every part of our life. It is important to take care of our mind just like we do our body to achieve our best overall health. Some struggles may be more to do with our daily life and coping skills, where others stem from deep rooted trauma. I also help mom's struggling with PPD/PPA. Either way, what you are feeling is valid, and you deserve a chance a process and be your best self.

My specialty is in the area of trauma, particularly trauma that leads to self-injurious behaviors, debilitating anxiety, or a pattern of failed relationships .
I work best with clients seeking to define and engage with the issues that are hindering their ability to function well, be happy and healthy. I am a direct, but not a directive therapist. I believe that given the strategies and tools to navigate through difficult situations most people are capable of doing what is needed to live life to the fullest. That includes one of my favorite populations, teenagers. I also enjoy treating patients, persons who will likely be managing a psychiatric condition throughout their lifetime with a combination of medical management and psychotherapy.

I specialize in helping people with trauma (abuse, assault, childhood, military), social anxiety, depression, and other issues.
I understand that clients are experts in their own lives, but sometimes they need help with unwanted thoughts, symptoms, or behaviors. Reaching out for help can be difficult for all kinds of reasons. I want to reassure you with words from Brené Brown “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to." I want to help you work on becoming the best version of yourself. Loneliness, social anxiety, and just dealing with a constantly changing world can sometimes make anyone feel out of control. I want to help give you back that feeling of being in control of your life.

Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, depression or trauma? As a skillful mindfulness therapist, I have been helping people feel more balance for years.
Change is not easy sometimes and we will go through it with love towards self. It is our self-doubt and often our lack of confidence in our basic goodness that hinders our progress. I have helped many find the self-compassion needed for self-healing and with that a much more mindful approach to life. I have been down the road of mental health challenges. There are many ways I used therapy technics and mindfulness practice to help develop a much more balanced self. I am confident I can help you find the richness in life that you deserve.

Growing up in a dysfunctional home, I can relate to early childhood experiences of trauma, codependency, and addiction.
Many of us struggle on a daily basis with intrusive thoughts caused by traumatic memories, stress, shame, and/or loss of meaning and purpose. We are often left feeling anxious or depressed, angry, and disconnected from the world as we try to make sense of our experiences. If you're like most of us, you've likely learned to cope through addiction, codependency, and mental or physical illness. Yet, you're also keenly aware that your experiences have the potential to transcend pain by creating meaning. The search for meaning gives rise to understanding, and with understanding comes healing.

I have a background in working with individuals with Substance Use Disorder, anxiety disorders, and unresolved trauma.
Everyone can benefit from having an open space to explore and process their thoughts, feelings, and struggles. Many people live their life on an "auto-pilot," responding to their present circumstances with defense mechanisms developed from past wounds. By understanding these wounds, you can better change the behaviors that are not working for you anymore.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients with anxiety, anger, trauma, depression, grief, and change of life issues.
Life can be challenging when issues pop up and you run out of ways to cope. Sometimes the route to happiness is short and simple. Sometimes it takes work to achieve peace of mind. Learning coping skills or thought replacement are just a few ways to help clients move into a better headspace.

I have 20 years experience in grief counseling, navigating life transitions, treating mental illness, end of life issues, and providing trauma-informed care to adults struggling with grief and loss, life-limiting illness, caregiver fatigue, and depression.
Just because you can carry your grief doesn’t mean it’s not heavy. Grief can be lonely; overwhelming sadness, feeling numb, guilt, anger, avoidance, or burnout can make you feel disconnected from others and change your perception of yourself and the world around you. With the right help, you can feel better, find meaning in your life, and see beauty in the world again.

I provide play therapy services to children under eight, with a specialization in children three to six. Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. If you are concerned about your child's behavior, developmental challenges, or disruptions in the parent- child relationship, play therapy is the recommended approach to help your child. I also offer a variety of services to enhance the parent-child dynamic including expressive art therapy, sand tray, behavioral consultation and family therapy. No matter the issue I will offer encouragement and support in an accepting environment.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
