Welcome! My name is Angie Hamilton and I’m a Licensed Psychotherapist. I specialize in anxiety, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues, and also addictions.

Compassion and collaboration are key elements in growing through any life circumstance. Together, we can build a foundation to move forward with insight, hope, and change. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working with families of teenagers. I also work with individuals and greatly appreciate the opportunity to help others. Before becoming a therapist, I was an educator for 11 years and specialized in prenatal through age 5. I typically work with teenagers and anxiety. I also provide group, couples, and family counseling. Although I do not have any specialization certificates, I like to work with grief and trauma (mostly sexual trauma).

In therapy sessions, I therefore create a warm, safe, empathetic, non-judgmental, space to unpack your story. I view you as an expert on yourself and will encourage you to honor your own inner wisdom. I value processing your unique context and how intersectional identities and structures of oppression contribute to your distress.  My goal is to illuminate the root causes of your pain and to help guide you towards healing and growth.

I help clients with a variety of issues, specializing in relationship problems; individual concerns of stress, depression, and career; and adolescent issues. I also work with families, looking at the entire family system, and what is going on within it. I create a safe, trusting relationship with the client, working at a pace which is comfortable to the specific needs and desires, while at the same time, moving the client toward their desired goals. Reaching out to a therapist is hard. So first, take a moment to commend yourself for prioritizing your wellbeing - it is difficult, even for me as a therapist! I believe that we all have a desire for genuine relational connection. However, our past experiences (eg. oppression, trauma, relational disconnections) inform our strategies of survival (eg. perfectionism, addiction, avoidance), which paradoxically leave us feeling dysregulated, isolated, or stuck in painful relationships. I am a Marital and Family Therapist and I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 25 years. I believe in the worth and value of all humans and support their desire to have joy, fulfillment, creativity, and to have control of their destiny. I recognize that some experiences negatively impact our ability to access our internal and external resources to cope with what life throws at us, and so, we find ourselves needing the support of one who is trained and skilled to assist us on that journey toward growth, healing, and change.

Julie received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. Julie currently works with young adults, adults, and couples. Her collaborative style focuses on the goals of the client, cultivating a space for growth, and understanding of the client’s lived experience. Julie’s therapeutic approach is grounded in emotionally focused and collaborative theory which allows her to tailor treatment to individual needs within a wide scope of client demographics including LGBTQIA+, gender diverse individuals, and CNM partners.

I view therapy as an essential tool to help prioritize, care for, and learn about ourselves. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families facing a range of challenges including anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, identity development, family conflict, and chronic illness. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, my primary goal as a clinician is to create a space that facilitates free expression, highlights your natural abilities, and strengthens self-awareness and self-compassion.

The Safety Net Youth Services, is a Nonprofit organization, our goal is to provide enrichment services for communities, families, children, in crisis, in the state of Georgia. Our agency is a was established in 11/2015. Our agency offers the following services; Intervention/Prevention, Child Development, Social Awareness, Outreach, Assessments (Substance abuse, Anger Management, and Trauma), Group/Family/Individual Counseling Sessions. Mission Statement: To provide services for children and youth in crisis, and strengthen the communities with safety and support.

I have served clients in psychiatric care for over 16 years, facilitated psychosexual Trauma Systems Therapy for over 9 years, led couples and family therapy for over 8 years, and have been actively working with HIV prevention and sexual health education of other sexually transmitted infections and diseases for over 8 years. I am a Doctor of Health Education and Promotion and I am exceedingly committed to sexual health, behavioral health, and mental health.

I enjoy helping people understand the relationship they have with others, and with themselves. Most of my career has been dedicated to working with individuals who have serious mental illnesses. I am comfortable working with a wide range of clients, regardless of their illness, background, or lifestyle.
