Marital or relationship problems, traumatic past, depression, anxiety, frustration, anger, unable to focus or concentrate, alcohol or substance abuse, or just struggling to take the next step in life. These are just a fraction of the issues and problems I help people with every day. People want peace in their lives, but the reality is peace has a price. Our lives are entangled in responsibilities and relationships that are extremely difficult and take a heavy toll upon us mentally. In many cases we are to believe that if you can't see the hurt or the pain then it doesn't exist. It does and it is real. There is help and it is here.

I work with individuals and families, utilizing EMDR, Brainspotting, body-based techniques, mindfulness, sandtray therapy, play therapy, and relationship based approaches to help you find successful ways to address challenges in your day to day life, and understand the role the mind/body connection plays in experiencing, managing and expressing emotions.
I believe that everyone has the ability to heal from trauma, and experience the beauty of personal growth from difficult life experiences. When we experience trauma and/or chronic stress, we often become disconnected from ourselves, from others, and from the world around us. Our work together can help you reconnect to yourself, improve interpersonal relationships and learn to be present in the moment. My goal is to help you become more resilient, so that you feel comfortable enough to process your past, and confident enough to navigate difficult life events.

Relationship and family mediation is an opportunity to resolve hidden wounds, establish improved rapport with your family member or to negotiate a better arrangement.
Life is much easier when we learn that we can improve or even control our reaction to most difficulties facing us. Learn to change "reaction" to "response," indicating a thoughtful, healthful method of reply. The ideal client will begin therapy with an open mind, a need for change, and a willingness to participate in his/her own growth process. Once you get curious about yourself, we can go places!

I believe in people's ability to heal and grow after difficult experiences. However, it can be hard to know where to start, who to trust, or what might be helpful. Maybe you experience depression or anxiety, suffer from the consequences of trauma and chronic pain, or would like to repair and strengthen your romantic relationship. Regardless of your life’s journey and obstacles, treatment can help! As a psychologist with a holistic and integrative approach, I utilize evidence-based treatments (the gold standard), while also incorporating other helpful tools depending on your unique concerns.

My practice specializes in marriage counseling and couple therapy. I also work with individuals on a wide-range of mental health, career transition, substance use, and life transition issues. I have worked with more than 2,800 couples in my career, addressing relationship concerns and finding solutions to chronic dissatisfaction, infidelity, poor communication, intimacy problems, and family conflict. For persons who are uncertain about remaining in their marriage, "discernment counseling" is available to help an ambivalent spouse gain clarity about their relationship commitment and options for bringing about needed change.

I view counseling as a collaborative relationship which focuses on establishing trust, working as a team to identify and explore problems, and addressing conflicting situations to develop goals for an overall improved life.
Throughout life’s journey it is inevitable to experience difficult roads that are too tough to endure alone. I provide a safe space and utilize a direct, yet empathetic approach to help you discover strengths, learn healthy coping skills that promote inner peace, and healing. I aim to help you figure out which direction to turn next, and can guide you through a more peaceful life. It is my belief that the essence of health and wellness is based upon balance. It is my goal to support and meet you at every corner of your mental health needs.

Do you feel disconnected from yourself and others? Do you lack feelings of safety in your life? Maybe you feel like nobody understands your pain or fear. Having a lack of trust in yourself, others, or the world can make reaching out for help immensely difficult. If you are reading this, you have taken a brave first step. Although therapy may seem intimidating, my approach focuses on your felt safety; between us, and within yourself. I have many therapeutic techniques to help you, but from my experience, the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful tool towards healing.

I am uniquely unconventional with my authenticity by integrating honesty, humor, and genuinely straight-forward approach as we develop a personable therapeutic relationship.
I believe that no two people are alike and that your therapeutic experience depicts your nature and nurture that makes up whom you are today. As your therapist, we'll actively work on developing “good” emotional health; as we explore what has directly/indirectly affected you and has impacted whom you are, today. What I am seeking in a client, is an individual that is motivated for a change in their life. With that, I will need your dedication and commitment to this process. Will this be difficult and challenging at times? Yes, it will be. “Challenges is what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” J.M.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
