As a counselor I have 20+ years of experience working with adults and children. I treat my clients in a compassionate and professional manner and my approach is usually eclectic as I choose them according to the needs of my client. Techniques used by me are CBT, REBT, ACT, Motivational, Gestalt approach, meditation, relaxation and guided imagery. My expertise is in mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorders, and on anxiety disorders such as OCD, panic disorder, and phobias. Anger management in relationships and marriage and relationship therapy are also my interest areas as well as resolution of trauma issues, whether acute or chronic. I have and continue to treat dually diagnosed substance abuse clients.

I want my clients to feel connected. To know I can understand and see them. Sitting in my office with me, or meeting online, should be a place where a client feels they can be honest and open without judgement or repercussion. Nobody is perfect and we all have some type of past. We have all made bad choices or have had bad things happen. Some of had horrible and unthinkable things occur to them while others may not have experienced such things. Regardless, this is place to unpack whatever you have been carrying around. I believe, the single most important element of counseling is the relationship between the therapist and client. Melissa uses child-led therapy practices to build rapport and trust in sessions. Melissa has experience with engaging clients in play therapy and attachment based therapy. She has worked with children experiencing issues with depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger, and other behavioral/emotions concerns. She enjoys working with children and families to improve the overall wellbeing of the child.
