I also use Somatic Experiencing and EMDR to resolve trauma. I expect you will find our relationship together to have unconditional positive regard, openness, curiosity, wisdom and compassion.

I focus on assisting individuals experiencing difficulties related to life adjustments and transitions, grief and loss, interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression, and cognitive disabilities related to brain injuries.
We all know how it goes, life is nothing short of a rollercoaster with twists and turns that are very sudden. Sometimes you feel there is no end to the unfortunate surprises. But I am here to tell you there is more to life and there are many ways to turn those unforeseen surprises into something optimistic. Reasonably, it can feel very overwhelming and vulnerable to share your story with someone new but with a collaborative effort, we can focus on your strength and resilience to life circumstances. My intention is to meet individuals where they are in life and offer a safe space to grow.

I see you trying your best today. Maybe you feel alone in your journey and need a listening ear. I can be that person for you. Is comparing yourself to others making it difficult to recognize your strengths? I see you! Did you sleep well last night? Are you worried about tomorrow? I see you! Do you dwell on the past? Are you missing someone? I see you! Are you holding back tears? Do you wish life was not such a struggle? I see you! Do you cope with life in unhealthy ways you wish you didn't? Are you avoiding something? I see you! Are you feeling lonely? Do you need support? I see you! I want to help you.

You may feel as if you are at a crossroads, feeling stuck or seeking more fulfillment in your life. On difficult days, it may seem as if the smallest tasks are nearly impossible or that you are just going through the motions, unsure of where you are headed and if it is even worth it.

Do you often feel overwhelmed, confused, or frustrated with your life? Do you feel you have little support? Perhaps you feel on edge and don’t know how to relax? Do you feel there isn’t enough time in the day? Or your world runs on chronic stress? Maybe you’ve noticed these feelings and have even tried ways to challenge them. Jumped into yoga, didn’t work. Read a self-help book, didn’t work. Sought advice from friends. They didn’t understand. Googled your symptoms. Yeah, that was a bad idea. If you find yourself saying yes, then you're looking at the right profile. Let me be your guide to balance and mental wellness.

I firmly believe in the philosophy that "it is okay to be human." All of us struggle to navigate the balance between emotional well-being and the demands of daily life. We all grapple with establishing healthy boundaries and find ourselves stretched thin by the responsibilities we shoulder. This can lead to stress, both at work and in our personal lives, as we strive to meet societal expectations and our own aspirations. My goal is to guide you in navigating life's complexities with confidence.

Not all clients arrive to therapy with the same issues or the same rooting point, so therapy needs to be unique to each individual. I provide a space to establish how clients see therapy happening and I am there to help guide the process in a healthy manner. The space belongs to the client, not me.

"It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." This famous Eleanor Roosevelt quote can be applied to many situations. When we get stuck -- in a rut at work, in a stormy relationship, in a lukewarm marriage, with our children -- we suffer but are often pulled to focus on the problem rather than finding a solution. Sometimes, we're not aware of what the actual issue is. All we can do is try to avoid the pain, skirt problems, even pretend we are fine. We are blocked by fear -- another word for anxiety. Together, we can walk slowly through that fear, and find that light.

"Everyone faces struggles at some point in life, and it is courage which allows us to seek help during those times. Common issues such as depression, anxiety, relational conflict, behavioral and emotional problems, and difficulty adjusting to life transitions can all be very oppressive, yet we can often work toward more helpful ways to manage these challenges. Asking for help can be hard, and it is usually the hard things that are worth doing."

I help kids, teens and adults learn to be kinder to themselves. Most of my clients come to my office having spent years trying to be perfect, talking negatively to themselves and feeling loads of shame. Perhaps they suspect they have anxiety, depression or PTSD from some of the things they have been through. If this sounds like you, please know, you are worthy of a life that is joyful and authentic; I would love to help you work through whatever roadblocks are standing in the way of that!

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
