My first priority is to establish a strong counselling relationship in which you feel heard and understood.
Challenges are inevitable in this life, but they can be managed with the help of family, friends or sometimes professionals. My life mission is to be of service to people who are suffering. I strive to create a counselling space in which my clients feel at ease with being able to share their stories. I truly believe in the possibility of people being able to move through their pain, in order to live happier and healthier lives.

I have had the privilege to work with a diverse population on issues that included anxiety, depression, trauma, immigration, grief, relationship difficulties, addictions, ENM, and many others.
People tend to feel more satisfied when their actions align with their values, their relationships are based on authenticity, and they are able to meaningfully participate in their communities. As you think about making changes in your life, you may feel stuck, unclear about your goals, overwhelmed by the journey, or affected by unresolved issues and past traumas. It is my goal to help you feel more hopeful, supported, and capable, as well as to provide you with the skills that can help you move forward with more clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.

I have experience in supporting individuals and couples in both private and non-profit settings.
You might have been putting most of your energy and simply trying to get through the day for a long time. Being overwhelmed by fears, exhaustion and emotional isolation has become your norm. You have tried hard to change but have not been able to make it last. Escaping might give you relief but you know it is not a permanent solution. You tried to be seen but only part of you was accepted. You have pushed anger away and it came back even stronger. However, deep down, you know you are more than your pain. You have not given up yet as you are still seeking. You are yearning to live your life vibrantly.

We will work together to establish safety in the relationship and build opportunities for authentic connection to pave the way for the journey of counselling.
We all have unfinished business - those life experiences that have not been adequately processed or resolved have a lasting presence in our lives. Counselling gives us the opportunity to explore the role our unfinished business is playing in our lives currently. This exploration looks different for everyone but the destination looks similar - an increased sense of self, better awareness of your needs, and the ability to challenge the roadblocks that have been getting in the way of your healing.

I am a relationship therapist.
Life’s transitions can be overwhelming, but in considering counselling, you are taking a crucial step toward the future you want. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you will be seen and heard. Here, you can feel your emotions and move forward with a stronger sense of self. The answers are already within you, but it can be tough to see them on your own. A trusting therapeutic relationship will help you feel supported and connected so you can express your struggles and investigate why they have power over you. I will meet you wherever you are at and draw on therapeutic practices that work best for you.

My specialty is relationship healing-whether that is the relationship you have with you, others or your life situation.
Most of us are yearning for more out of life and our relationships. We yearn for more freedom, more choice, more love, more adventure, more willingness to risk, more contribution, more peace, more belonging. Clients say that as a result of seeing me for therapy, they experience themselves as having a renewed sense of purpose, direction, more freedom, peace, energy, vitality and a stronger connection to their own life force. I am unique from others in my field because I have devoted my life to learning how to help my clients actually transform what is holding them back rather than just talking about it.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
