I want people to be set free and healed. I believe people can experience healing as they begin to explore what has kept them from experiencing their true selves. I believe hope and healing are possible.

Whatever suffering or problem has evoked your search for a Jungian psychologist, you are an irreplaceable human being, from my point of view, and the problems and suffering is ultimately just stuff in the way of your own self-realization in life. The healing resources are latent within you, and our work is one of collaborating to evoke these self-healing and wholeness-making potentials into action. Each of us has the capacity to find and honor the Inner Healer, who is also the Dream Maker implicit in our hearts. Therapy becomes a heart-to-heart relationship between you and me.

Irritability, lost sleep, constant nervousness, inability to concentrate make it hard to deal. You may be having a hard time starting or getting through the day. You feel disconnected from yourself and others. You are struggling with important relationships in your life. You have experienced loss. You have tried different things but its just not enough. Overall, you still don't feel like "yourself." You are looking for someone to help you understand what is happening, a different perspective. Someone with tools to get yourself back on track towards the path of healing.

At this time I am not able to take on new clients. Whatever it might be that you have been through, what might be holding you back, or what you want to become, I am here to be with you. My primary focus is trauma and the anxiety, depression, unhealthy coping, behavioral difficulties and unfulfilling relationships that can result. Sometimes it's a big specific incident, sometimes it's an undefinable pattern. Whatever it is that might be hurting you, we can work through it together.

As a queer therapist, it is crucial for me to ensure your concerns are taken seriously, and you are able to show up as your authentic self. Therapy means having a brave space to explore, reconnect with ourselves, and express emotions (maybe some laughing, crying, and swearing are involved too). I specialize working with folks that have experienced trauma & PTSD, anxiety, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ related concerns, and survivors of gender-based violence (i.e., sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking).

Everyone has experienced trauma: either "small-t trauma" such as grief/loss, verbal abuse/bullying, injuries/illnesses, or instability in the home or "large-T trauma" such as rape, assault, physical/sexual abuse, or debilitating injury/illness. I assist clients in gaining insight on their situations as well as the development of specific skills and behaviors that will help to reduce emotional distress. I believe that every client has the ability to heal from trauma.

I have training and experience in Trauma-Informed Therapy, Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and working with college-aged populations, and sexual assault survivors.
As counselor, I see therapy involving a very individual, 'person centered' approach. "I believe that every person has the internal resources they need for growth & healing, and to find their direction and progress in the therapy process." I support the client on their path to success, providing empathy, acceptance for who they are and where they are, while offering a non-judgmental orientation. I encourage the client with the freedom to explore thoughts, feelings, and life experiences in our time together.

I specialize in trauma, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, and spiritual abuse.
Circumstances are building and you fear that its weight will eventually grow to crush and consume you. You have so much to manage and yet you long to just let go of it all. You’re ready for a change, but it is terrifying. To face it may cause you to crumble, nevertheless, you will yourself to get through each day. If this sounds familiar and you wish to do more than get by, it is possible to flourish again. I aim to create a safe and empowering environment built upon a trusting therapeutic relationship so you can successfully heal from anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief and work toward thriving in your daily life.

I've worked with survivors of physical abuse, sexual abuse, assault, cancer, accidents, addiction, loss, and everyday stress.
My specialty is in treating sexual abuse, anxiety, trauma and PTSD effectively and efficiently. I'm trained in 3 evidence-based (validated by research) therapies for treating PTSD, and my goal is to help you find healing without wasting your time or money. During your first appointments, we'll determine the best plan for your therapy. Some approaches emphasize talking, while others have very little talking. Some use creative elements and story, while others work directly to treat your brain and nervous system. I also provide general counseling for depression, anxiety, and relationships.

, combat veterans, post aborted women, post-partum depressed, sexual abuse, childhood trauma and others.
I work well with clients seeking help for problems with anxiety and depression. Those referred to me with these issues find that symptomatically they are struggling with panic, sleep disturbances, worry thoughts, self-defeating thoughts/behaviors, eating disorders, addictions and unknowingly, at times, some of their difficulties have been attached to old trauma. Many people with these sorts of struggles find that this spills over into problems with relationships and/or functioning at work and school. Areas of intimacy, both emotional and sexual are important work also. I work with individuals, married couples, families, and groups.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
