Hope starts here. Are you feeling sad or stressed? Do you experience mood swings but don't really know why? Maybe you've been withdrawing from family, friends, or activities that used to breathe light into your life. If you have been feeling depressed, have found yourself more angry or hostile than normal, or suffer from low energy or problems sleeping, you may have an untreated mental health issue. Mental health impacts your way of thinking, relating to others, and overall quality of life. Many issues have been identified and defined including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), etc. You don't have to suffer anymore.

Main treatment approaches: Behavioral Activation for depression and Exposure and Response Prevention for Anxiety/OCD.
Being able to live life fully while also tolerating feelings of discomfort and uncertainty is something we can all strive for. Often, these feelings lead us to avoid and disconnect which move us further away from what we truly value.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Many individuals struggle with overthinking, worrying, restlessness, and tolerating uncertainty. Imagine living a life where you better understood your patterns & emotions, had decreased stress, and accepted uncertainty. I have worked with many individuals from different backgrounds, including adults, adolescents, and children. I have worked with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, codependency, grief, OCD, life adjustments, relationship difficulties, and social anxiety. Anxiety can make us feel stuck, but there is hope.

Often, my clients are looking for support with anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, neurodivergence (ADHD/Autism), low self-esteem, postpartum depression/OCD, domestic violence survivors, grief, as well as many others.
If you are reading this: I am SO proud of you for making it this far! I am passionate about working with teens and adults. I aim to provide supportive and understanding care while helping my clients reach all of their goals. It can be really challenging to learn new habits, process past trauma, hold ourselves accountable, and reach even the smallest of goals. My goal is to help my clients get to a point where they can be their best selves. Healing isn't linear and sometimes we just need a little help reaching our goals!

Therapy should be individually tailored to the client. With over 40 years experience, I have several techniques to use to help people achieve their goals. Successful therapy depends upon an open and trusting relationship. I am trained in hypnosis, EMDR, Energy psychology, and crisis intervention as well as traditional techniques. Special areas of expertise include fears and anxiety, OCD, relationships, and trauma. I use hypnosis for relaxation training, smoking cessation, and other issues. My office is a small, quiet and private one, not a part of a big practice.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
