We all face a time when life and the ever-moving, demanding parts of it exceed our typical ways of coping and we are unable to manage our lives healthily. Maybe you don’t know what you are looking for, or perhaps it has become clear to you that your present struggles have become too overwhelming to deal with alone and you need support. I offer an engaged and collaborative relationship to better understand core problems and emotional conflicts that get in the way of having a fulfilling and meaningful life.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, OCD family/relationship issues and Bipolar Disorders.
It is only natural that you might be feeling stressed, overwhelmed and uncertain. Current stressors can sometimes trigger us to re-experience past events that we find unpleasant or increase already present anxiety and depression issues. I am here to assist you and support you. My style is empathetic, understanding, non-judgmental and direct at times. Together we can determine what you want your future self to look like and start making steps towards that person in the present. I am licensed in both NY and CT.

My experience has included Clients with various needs, ranging from individual therapy, to dual diagnosis, to family and couples therapy.
Taking the first step in therapy can be difficult. In order to share ones feelings, pains, & stress one must be courageous and willing to take that first step. And here you are. You are taking the first step. One of the most important parts of therapy is feeling safe and connected to who you are seeing. To feel that you can share your current concerns, difficulties, successes and discuss goals as well as options with your therapist is essential in progression.

As a high-achieving woman, no one would know that you suffer from persistent anxiety. You're healthy, happy, successful, and according to your social media profile, you are "killin' it." So, why don’t you feel you’re doing as well as you should be? Imposter syndrome kicks in, and you're constantly comparing yourself to others, and you never seem to measure up. It takes a toll on you when you are always worrying, doubting yourself, and overthinking everything. Your relationships, self-confidence, and health pay that toll. You don't want to keep feeling this way, but you don’t know how to change things. You're ready for a breakthrough

I approach my work with clients from a non-judgmental, empathetic, caring and nurturing approach. Therapy should be driven by the clients needs and a safe place to bring issues and concerns, without fear of judgment or rejection. You, the client, should determine what we will discuss as well as the goals we work on together. I hope through our time spent together, you will have the opportunity to explore areas of concerns, as well as feel better and less stressed in your daily life. I offer a free 30 minute consultation to new clients, so we can better get to know each other and see if we are a good match for therapy.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
