I enjoy treating clients others may find trying - high conflict couples, bipolar, and medically ill.
My practice is unique. I treat two groups of clients: One is very high functioning - the highly successful professional who wants to improve personal strengths, interpersonal interactions, relationships, and intimacy. The second set are those who have been struggling with a diagnosable mental or physical illness that has not been effectively managed. Both may need various clinical treatments which include therapies such as Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (Couples & Family), Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) or trauma oriented skills such as Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Hypnosis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) - Feeling-State Addiction Therapy, Relaxation & Mindfulness.

I have worked with a variety of individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, life changes, medical trauma, and life-stressors.
Our daily lives can make us feel overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated, or that we are simply ‘going through the motions’. Life can be messy and sometimes we need a little extra support to keep going. I try to offer a space through counseling that is warm, comforting, safe, collaborative, and free of judgement. In person or online, together, we can work through goals, feelings, and struggles. I primarily work with children and teens ages 3 and up — as well as adults. I specialize in providing therapy through play, art, and viewing the world through your perspective. I am located in-person in the Central Phoenix area.

Drawing from my professional training and my own experience with trauma, I would love to help you gain confidence in your relationship skills and find more connection and satisfaction in your relationships.
You are worn out and tired of the drama, big behaviors, fighting and discord in your relationships. Is there something big about who you are or who they are that might be affecting your relationship? You have self- doubt and think you must be the problem. You keep telling yourself you won’t let it happen again, but nothing seems to change? You feel tired, depressed, and even angry that you are not enjoying deep, personal rewarding relationships with a spouse, parents, your children or a significant other in your life. You want a change, you want to find healthy rewarding ways to get your needs met in a relationship.

I specialize in working with men's issues, individuals going through life transitions and couples having relationship issues.
Things aren’t going quite the way you’d thought. You’re caught between trying to decide if your problem is “bad enough” that you need help and wondering if one more book, date night, or meditation might do the trick. After all, you’ve made it this far, and life looks mostly good (on the outside) even if it doesn’t feel that good on the inside. Fake it ‘til ya make it though, right? But then again, your exhaustion is growing and your efforts seem more like whack-a-mole than actual change.

By creating a safe, non-judgemental, open therapeutic relationship, my goal is to utilize your own strengths and values as a guide to establish the best ways to help you.
“The more you understand how worthy you are, the more likely you’ll find your strength again.” - Tabitha Brown. It is essential to understand our own worth and to learn who we are as individuals. Unfortunately through various life events, we may lose sight of who we are or never learn who we are at all. When we don’t have an understanding of our own worth, it is difficult to find our inner strength and to understand what we deserve out of life and relationships. Due to feelings of unworthiness and/or low self-esteem, we may end up making decisions, choosing relationships, and reacting to life in ways that do not serve us well.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
