On the surface, things are going well, but you've felt anxious for a long time. Kids/no kids, marriage/wanting marriage, work/student- the responsibilities just keep piling up, and you're downright overwhelmed. You know that finding balance is important, but you often wonder what that even means. Your tendencies to people-please make it difficult to prioritize your own needs. At the same time, you realize something has to change. Or you may be unhappy in your career. You know that there has to be something more for you out there. You go to work, day in and day out, dreading it. You realize you need a change.

I work with adult and adolescent clients who are experiencing difficulty in managing anxiety, anger, trauma, depression and relationship-based concerns. I invite you to consider the idea that you are the author and director of your thoughts and emotional responses. Put differently, you have within you the power to rewrite the "script" on how you see yourself and the role that you play in your life, regardless of what you may have experienced in your past. In our shared journey, I hope to help you feel more empowered as an active agent of change in responding to suffering, depression, anxiety and trauma.

Rest assured, there is hope! I've worked with many wonderful and brave clients like you who've learned to calm their anxious minds and nervous systems for good.
Things weren’t always this way. There was a time when you could experience good things without waiting for the other shoe to drop. You used to be able to easily complete tasks that these days require all your effort just to start. But somewhere along the way, things changed. Now, everything is a struggle. You spend hours endlessly overanalyzing past conversations and situations, parsing them for mistakes you may have made. You hate the idea of letting anyone down, so you’re determined to be perfect. And when you inevitably fall short of this unattainable ideal, you criticize yourself for being a failure. Things can’t go on this way.

I know exactly what you're feeling: the tightness in your chest, constantly feeling like you’re losing the one you love and care about, feeling pushed away, feeling like a crazy person, and feeling like you need security and reassurance NOW. These feelings can be consuming and terrifying, and I do not want you to suffer from them anymore. Holistic practices can reduce feelings of neediness, anxiety, and depression tremendously.

I have specialized in autism, anxiety, depression, crisis, parenting skills and relationship repair.
I believe in providing all of my clients with the best therapy possible by using an approach that fits who they are as a person. I want my clients to have a safe, open space to be themselves, ask for what they need, and feel comfortable every time they come in. Therapy is a place of vulnerability that only works if the client can fully engage in the process and feel confident in their therapist. I strive to help clients reach a space where real healing is achieved and to have them leave sessions feeling understood and closer to their goals.

We all need a helping hand at times, and I have had a passion for helping people for as long as I can remember. You want to feel happier, less anxious, and do more than just “get through each day”. You deserve a safe space to discover who you truly are, and uncover what is keeping you from experiencing more joy, contentment and ease in your life. When we sit down together and discuss all that you’ve been through we will also discover your many inner strengths, and together we can build on the resiliency within you. I want you to see all that you are capable of - all the things that you can do to help yourself be happier.

Congratulations on beginning your search to find a therapist that will partner with you to create the life you imagine. A life that is more satisfying and reflects your personal goals and values. Life can be challenging as you juggle work/school, personal relationships, every day stress, and relaxation. While every emotion is important and has something to tell, negative emotions and stress can get you down and create doubt in yourself. Are you ready to challenge yourself to learn some different coping strategies, communicate your needs more effectively, and repair relationships?

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
