We are a team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians who are passionate about supporting children's behavioral needs and strengthening their family unit. We utilize the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis to increase desired behavior and decrease behaviors interfering with a child's quality of life. At Darsey, Black & Associates we specialize in providing therapy to adults, adolescents, children, couples and families in the Coastal Georgia Area with a variety of mental health problems. Our specialities include anxiety, depressive and co- occurring disorders. We also specialize in treating family/marital conflicts and other relationship issues. My passion is children. I have dedicated the past 25+ years of my career as a licensed professional, school counselor, and special education teacher (emotional and behavioral disorders) to working with some of the most vulnerable, challenging, and high needs populations. Clients and colleagues describe me as welcoming, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, engaging, structured, and solution-focused. In this practice, I will primarily focus on children ages 4-17 and their families regardless of race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status, disability, or other individual differences.

Mary Barnes is a native to Brunswick, GA and has a passion for working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families to establish healthy relationships and coping strategies. She completed her graduate work at Valdosta State University with an M.S. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Coursework emphasis was placed on Early Childhood and Adolescent development and therapeutic interventions. Her background includes providing individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents along with their families in an outpatient setting, school based programs, and residential facility.

At RISE, we are motivated by a mutual belief that the day-to-day living and overall health of individuals and families can be improved through the enhancement of social-emotional intelligence. We use collaborative efforts between the clinician, family, school, social supports, and outside service providers to (1) meet individuals and families wherever they are; and (2) aid them in developing a stronger sense of understanding, along with the skills they need to overcome challenges and take on life with confidence. Educated and trained at Rutgers, Harvard, Savannah State, and the University of Pennsylvania, Michael Mack started his career over 25 years ago at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, where he focused in Structural Family Therapy (SFT) developed by Salvador Minuchin, a pioneer in child and adolescent therapy. In addition, he has been trained by the Beck Institute and Linehan Institute/Behavioral Tech in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

I use a strengths based, family/individual centered, solution focused approach to providing therapy. I believe that everyone can improve their situation if they want to, and structure my sessions so that the you and I work as a team to navigate through various issues and hopefully arrive at a place where you are comfortable to move on without therapy.
