I want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards making meaningful change in your life and recognize the courage it takes to do so. I have helped clients who are coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, hopelessness, difficult relationships, and significant life transitions. My approach to therapy is to begin with the issues, concerns and feelings that have motivated you to seek help. I want to allow you to move through therapy at a desirable pace, and when it is helpful, I am here to provide reflections, feedback and coping techniques along the way.

I love working with individuals, as well as couples. I have a lot of experience working with queer, non-heteronormative, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ clients, but that is not to say that I don’t love working with people who do not identify within those marginalized identities as well! I enjoy working with those who want to learn more about how to manage anxiety and panic disorder, engage with attachment disorders/historical ruptures, and childhood trauma. Check out my website for more details: www.cognitivecongruence.com

I work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, abuse, codependency and relationship issues. I do not pathologize issues, challenges, problems or people. The soul is always seeking expression, not just with joy and happiness, but also through challenges and sorrows. When we honor all aspects of our life stories, healing pathways begin to open up for us.

I work with adults for issues with relationships, PTSD, depression, anxiety, work problems.
Undergoing intensive psychodynamic psychotherapy is deeply personal. For many individuals, this adventure into unknown recesses of their psyches reveals personal vistas previously unimagined. Such exploration frequently involves painful disclosures, frightening discoveries, an extraordinary development of self-understanding, an increase in capacity for intimate sharing, and an integration of strengths and aspirations. Such a journey, with phases of both pain and exhilaration, usually takes place over an extended period.

I understand what it's like to experience complex trauma in the childhood environment C-PTSD, and I am both neurodivergent and gender non-conforming / queer.
You are an adult at a crossroads in your life and are looking for more intensive therapy than someone to talk to. You have experienced mis-attunements and/or trauma in your early life and have struggled to untangle the coping mechanisms that no longer work for you. Perhaps you don't know yourself or even know how to know yourself. Perhaps you just keep ending up in relationships that repeat past patterns no matter how hard you try not to. The idea of spending years in weekly therapy to get anywhere feels like too little. You need dynamic, change-oriented therapy that makes a difference quickly and offers more than just talking.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
