I'm an Italian – Ghanaian Immigrant and I understand what its like to face uncertainty. At young age I immigrated to the U.S and had to deal with all of life’s curveballs: parental divorce, adjusting to new culture, anxiety, depression, etc. However, I learned what it means to be resilient. Resilience takes vulnerability and courage. It takes believing you will make it out on the other side. I understand what it is like to face life’s pressures and questions: what if I fail, and what if I am not good enough? I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, I studied at Cameron University and received a master's in behavioral science in psychology, and a BA in communications from Georgia Southern University. I have been counseling clients since 2011. Prior to becoming a therapist I was an active duty soldier in the United States Army. The army provided exposure to many cultures and adversity. I departed from the army and became involved in military programs while supporting my active duty husband in his service. I was an advocate for the unit's family readiness group which led me to pursue a career in psychology.

I am a native New Yorker with over 23 yrs experience in health & human services, working with people from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and age groups. Deciding what to do about: a troubled child, aging/ailing loved one, workplace challenges, relationship issues, or personal struggles can be draining, complicated, and discouraging. My emergency room/crisis work history has given me special skills to help with sudden life changes as well as long-standing problems. Desiri has been working in the mental health field since 2018. She obtained her Masters in Counseling from Ottawa University in 2021. Desiri works strategically using Solution focused and Cognitive Behavioral approaches. Being aware that everyone is not the same, she takes a custom fit approach to meet the client’s needs where they are to help each and every individual.
