I support folks with connecting to their most authentic and resilient selves. I provide psychodynamic, relational and somatic therapy to assist individuals wanting to process, reframe and change behaviors; individuals interested in exploring their generational trauma and how it relates to their anxiety and fear-based behaviors; and those experiencing social justice and compassion fatigue. How can you move from the intellectual to the emotional/spiritual places of process and healing?

Trauma, stress, life changes, depression and anxiety are some of the most common issues I see.
While reaching out for help can feel scary, please know that in therapy you have a lot of control and I work hard to help you feel safe. My clients tend to prefer the flexibility that being seen by video offers. Often, my clients are living stressful lives, may have a history of trauma, or be feeling overwhelmed. In particular, I'm experienced in working with people living with anxiety, depression, OCD, past trauma, people in recovery, and healthcare workers. Everyone is different, and I prefer to shape how we work together based on your individual needs and goals. I see clients virtually in both New Hampshire and Texas.

I am accepting new clients. If you're not doing, thinking or feeling your best- than you owe it to yourself to do something about it. A counselor can be useful to you by helping you figure out what you want to do. Whether you want to learn to communicate better, improve your self-esteem, perform better academically, socially, athletically or if you want to free yourself from an addiction or from feelings of anxiety/depression/grief, or if you want to improve your relationships- counseling can be very useful. In terms of style, I'm a "regular, easy going guy" who will listen.

I enjoy working with all ages on anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, unhelpful thinking patterns, emotional regulation, and stress-related issues.
Healing occurs when we feel seen, heard, and accepted. We become empowered to live a life that aligns with our values. A felt sense of safety and grounding is key to regulating our nervous systems and accessing our inner wisdom. We will work collaboratively on challenges and explore how they can be opportunities for personal growth. We will explore specific tools and coping strategies that can be useful for you in your process.

My scope of practice includes female adolescents and adults who experience symptoms of Anxiety, Depression/Mood Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, Trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I believe that individuals deserve to live their life with less difficulty no matter how their biosocial makeup has been developed. Life continues despite how intensely challenging it can be. We are not in control of most situations, except of our own thoughts and actions. We do have a choice to continue to move forward in any circumstance that we are in, even if we feel like we can not. This can feel overwhelming and difficult, or even lonely, to take that first step. With a safe therapeutic space and down to earth soothing tone, we can work through these vulnerable steps together.

I specialize in working with PTSD resulting from childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and feeling generally overwhelmed.
If you are reading this, chances are you're feeling stuck and you're looking for some guidance. I offer a strengths-based, client-centered approach to helping people figure out what's not working, and find their own unique solutions to feeling better. Some clients are interested in processing how past experiences are still affecting them. Some are simply looking for solutions to handle their current problems. In sessions driven by your own unique needs, I guide clients to move beyond their "stuck" place and feel more in control of their emotional lives.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
