Wonderful to meet you! I’m a clinical psychologist, licensed in the states of California, Iowa, and Washington. I have specialized experience working with culturally diverse adults struggling with various mental health conditions or those hoping for self-growth. I also help couples who want to develop deeper intimacy, increase emotional safety, and communicate more effectively with one another.

We are a team of highly skilled folks who serve a wide variety of client needs. Our agency specifically focuses on support people who have struggled with trauma or complex trauma needs, including child sexual abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, religious trauma, refugee experiences and survivors of torture. We also support clients who are navigating key identity struggles including transgender and gender diverse clients, racial identity and trauma, grief and loss, and relationship and life transitions. We are experts in multicultural care, and in experiences of anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction and BPD.

My belief is if we are disconnected with ourselves, we aren't showing up to this world authentically it is impacting our relationships with others and most importantly, ourselves. We allow ourselves to be defined by our experiences we've had and trauma we've endured, we lose a sense of self, leaving us feeling lost and "broken". You’re resilient and strong, but you have some unresolved trauma from earlier in life that still bothers you. You’ve coasted, you’re high functioning anxious/depressed with a tough past. You’ve settled, and you’re fine. You keep busy and focus on others around you. Maybe the past creeps into your present day, creating barriers or difficulty in connecting with others, and trusting people. Maybe it’s hard to hold down a job, establish healthy habits, or maintain healthy relationships. Maybe you don’t know what makes you happy or how to even get there. Maybe you’ve been sweeping everything under the rug for years.

With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients facing unique and challenging circumstances. My training and education in marriage and family therapy, mental health, and substance abuse counseling have equipped me with the tools necessary to support individuals, couples, and families through complicated issues. As a former international graduate student myself, I am passionate about helping those from diverse backgrounds overcome the unique challenges that they may face.

Currently accepting new clients. I work at New Life Counseling's West Des Moines office location, but also meet with clients via Zoom. Many of my clients struggle with mental health challenges, marital problems, hidden addictions, self-esteem issues, spiritual formation issues, lack of support from community, ongoing shame (suppress feelings, mask symptoms), and self-sufficiency (figure it out myself, fix it without outside help).
