I have been counseling since 1991, my passion has been to help people achieve their greatest potential using counseling, spiritual direction and Neurofeedback. I have particularly enjoyed working with people desiring to heal and strengthen their own sense of self, marriages, working through life challenges and long term goals as well as discerning direction at times of major life transition.

People come to counseling for many different reasons. Jaime believes there is no one size fits all solution. I work with you to find what is going to be the best option for the goals you have for your, or your child's, life. Jaime believes all individuals have within them the tools to make change in their lives. Life, irrational beliefs, trauma and problematic behaviors can all get in the way of an individual’s ability to access what they have within them to make the changes needed to feel more fulfilled in their lives. Life's barriers sometimes get in the way of living life as abundantly as we would like. I know that it can be hard to seek help. I would be honored to come alongside you and see if we can find a way to overcome the barriers in life. Using a holistic approach, I will listen with empathy and together identify changes to be made and how to make those changes. Moreover, we will identify other important people in your life, including other health professionals with whom coordinating care will enrich your experience.

Healing trauma and attachment is my passion. It is my job to partner with you while we work to improve your relationship with yourself, and in turn with those around you. I am the agent to hold stress and tension with you as we work together to move past self-preservation and into healing. With specialized training in complex trauma, attachment, abuse, and adoption I work with all individuals (adults and children), and families through a variety of psychotherapy approaches determined by your needs. I work with all ages and stages of life.

From this place in my life, I can tell you life is a journey. There are few straight paths, but there are plenty of turns in the road and obstacles to overcome. My path has brought me to this work. My goal is to help you on your journey from wherever you have come from to the place and person you want to be. The way forward is found here in the present. Unlocking who you are in the present is the key to unlocking the path to your future.

Starting your personal counseling journey is never a decision of weakness, but instead it's one of great strength and bravery. You are deciding to face the issues, change the patterns, and break the unhealthy cycles in your life and in your family. That is an incredibly brave thing to do, but I do understand that it's scary to get started. My hope and desire is that you feel supported and empowered throughout this process. I hope to be able to provide tools, guidance, and support as you walk out your journey of healing. I am a Christian and will incorporate faith-based elements when it's welcomed, but that is completely up to you.

I work with people of all ages (children, teens and adults) and within many different relational dynamics. I support individuals and parents of ALL diversities. The Lanterns’ Way was created to encompass the felt sense of the voyage we all take in finding our own unique light and Lanterns’ Way, inside the hardships of life; which can sometimes feel dark, lonely, and hopeless. I am passionate about working with those who are desiring to look at what has been hidden within themselves. As a Registered Play Therapist who specializes in working with children 10 and under, I believe and know that children cannot process the same way that we adults do, which is why talk therapy won't work well for them. For children, play is their language and the toys are their words (Landreth). I am trained to communicate and use their play to reach their goals ( little do the kids realize what important work they are doing!) My job is to help them realize their best selves while helping you as their parent and caregivers understand and parent them in ways that can speak not only to their strengths but yours as well.

Shiri believes that the most important thing in therapy is the connection between the client and the therapist. Clients must feel comfortable and trust their therapist. Shiri offers her clients empathy, authenticity, and acceptance, without judgment or criticism. She helps her clients examine the “stories” they tell themselves against the objective reality. Many times, those “stories” are only in their minds, based on their personal experience and history, and have no connection to reality. When they realize that, they can change their narrative.

Things often happen in life that are out of our control, so having a space where you can safely share those experiences and feelings, tell your story to be heard, and get the support you need to overcome those hard times. For children this can be even hard because they often do not understand what happened to them, they just know they feel different and now respond differently. Children need someone who can meet them where they are and help them regain confidence and find ways to cope with and make sense of the trauma they experienced. Children, like others, want to be heard and validated in their experiences and feelings.

I genuinely care about my clients’ well-being, and I entered this field to help people solve challenging problems that require a skilled, compassionate, non-judgmental professional. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Clinical Fellow with the AAMFT, I have counseled individuals, couples, families, and groups for over 20 years. I also speak decent Spanish and work with clients ages 4 and up. If you prefer nonverbal therapy over talk, I employ Jungian Sandplay Therapy and Expressive Arts. Since we're a non-profit, we strive to serve people of all socio-economic levels and offer rates based on ability to pay.
