My counseling practice is directed by the Person-Centered approach, CBT, and EMDR; I use other theories as needed, like TFCBT, DBT, Narrative, and alternative therapies like mindfulness and Expressive Art Therapy. I am best suited to adults and teens who are struggling with stress, work and family issues, personal challenges and past trauma resolution. My approach to counseling includes creative methods to keep my clients engaged, goal setting and strength based techniques that empower the individual. I strive to provide a space of acceptance of your authentic self and multiple facets of your identity (ethnicity, gender, sexual identities, ability, SES, etc.). I aid in relating with and understanding your emotions, and body sensations and meet your wellness needs by deepening connection. I believe that my role as a therapist is to make you self-sustainable, such that after our period of engagement—however short or long—you can keep expanding your experiential horizons.

As a Pakistani-American Muslim woman, my overlapping identities enable me to empathize extremely well with my clients, particularly women of color. I approach therapy with a culturally aware and strengths-based lens that incorporates mindfulness and person-centered therapy. My passion lies in allowing clients to reach deep into themselves to explore hidden potential and develop healthy coping skills to help break the patterns they may find themselves in.
